Deny Yourself

Deny Yourself

You will find great riches on many levels of life if you deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Jesus. There are small moments of self-denial in life that unlock spiritual riches for you.

Denying yourself unlocks new levels of Friendship
Joh 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
Joh 15:14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
Joh 15:15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Denying yourself in Service
Mar 10:42 But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, "You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
Mar 10:43 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.
Mar 10:44 And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.
Mar 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Denying yourself in Sacrifice
Mat 27:35 Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: "THEY DIVIDED MY GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND FOR MY CLOTHING THEY CAST LOTS."
But we are not all called to be martyred, and we can present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God:
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Further, we can also give God a continual sacrifice of praise that is the fruit of our lips.
Heb 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Denying yourself in Giving
Act 4:32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.
Act 4:33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.
Act 4:34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,
Act 4:35 and laid them at the apostles' feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.
Act 4:36 And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,
Act 4:37 having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.

Denying yourself through the act of Sowing
Mar 10:29 So Jesus answered and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's,
Mar 10:30 who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.
Mar 10:31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first."

Denying yourself in Going
Mar 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Mar 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Mar 16:19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
Mar 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

In connection going, when you are on your way and you face the storms of life, allow Jesus into your boat and He will calm the storms and you will reach your destination immediately.
Joh 6:16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,
Joh 6:17 got into the boat, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was already dark, and Jesus had not come to them.
Joh 6:18 Then the sea arose because a great wind was blowing.
Joh 6:19 So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid.
Joh 6:20 But He said to them, "It is I; do not be afraid."
Joh 6:21 Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

When you have conceded to deny yourself, a quiet peace will flood your soul. Your stormy thoughts will bow to your inner man that is led by the Spirit, Christ within you the hope of glory.
|There is a sense of knowing that the course of action you have taken is right.
This peace allows you more clarity of thought, word and action. It also allows you to see the riches in others more.
When the storms of your own ambition and greed is still, you can help others reach their destinations quicker. When Jesus quietened the immediately they were on the other side of the lake. Denying yourself speeds up the processes of God in your life and Jesus in revealed more and more.
