A new sense of Boldness
A new sense of boldness is growing in the midst of the church – people are becoming witnesses of the Lord with greater boldness than before. We do not need more knowledge or more faith, but more boldness. Boldness is a confident trust that gives courage in the face of adversity and frankness to speak what you believe. It gives a believer an attitude that is almost careless, in the sense of not fearing how people will react to you, but it is also full of cheer. Boldness comes because we dare to trust the Lord. Boldness was the trademark of the first church. Hebrew: batch, Greek tharrheo)
There are several indications of boldness given in the book of Acts.
In Acts 9:29 they spoke boldly in the Name of the Lord. There is something about faith in the Name of Jesus Christ that gives us boldness to speak because we have confidence that He will bear witness to the word of His Grace granting signs and wonders to be done through our hands! (Acts 14:3)
In Acts 4:29 they prayed and asked the Lord for boldness. We have to ask for it! It is like vitamin C that gets used up in our bodies. We need more boldness for every day! Paul repeatedly asked that believers would pray for him for boldness to speak as he ought to speak! (Ephesians 6:18,19)
Boldness will help us to accomplish many things. It is a confident expectation that we will succeed in our task with the help of the Lord. With boldness we can face criticism and go through persecution. Boldness will prevent us from comromising the truth – even if we have to stand alone! Boldness will put the devil on the run! Our boldness is a sign of his ultimate defeat! Boldness sounds the trumpet of Jubiliee, the year of deliverance, for all the people of God. Because Christ is victorious over hell, death and the grave we can be victorious too!
Boldness affects and influence all three spheres of living: we affect heaven because we approach the throne of grace boldly to obtain mercy to help us int he time of our need (Hebrews 4:16). Esther boldly stepped into the throne room and said, 'If I perish I perish!' because she did it for the people of God's sake. The king pointed his sceptre to her and said, you are righteous, you are accepted, you may come into my presence and present your petition before the King. This is how God treats us when we approach Him in the name of Jesus! We have this boldness because of the blood of Jesus that paid the price for all our sins (Hebrews 10:19)
We can be bold on earth according to Hebrews 13:5,6 and we may boldly say, I will not fear what man can do to me, for the Lord is my helper!
We can even be bold in the face of the forces of hell because the church demonstrates the power of God over the forces of evil (Ephesians 3:10-12). We have boldness in Him and we have access with confidence through faith in Him.
So we can decree the following as a chosen race of believers:
I will be of good courage. I refuse to be discouraged. I am not moved by what I see or feel – only by what I believe. I believe God. I believe God's word. I believe it will be according to that which God has spoken. I am bold for the Lord my God is with me. I approach the throne of God boldly through Jesus Christ. I bring my petitions before him. I pray and intercede for others who do not know how to approach the Lord. I will be bold towards demons and devils; I will be bold towards spirits, sickness and disease and I will be bold against poverty and lack. I will say, ' Satan I come against you in Jesus' Name for you are a defeated foe. take your hand off my life and off my finances and off my family!' I will ask God to give His angels charge over me to keep in all my ways because I love God and know His Name!
I dare to proclaim the Word of God and believe that He will confirm His Word with signs following. Jesus is risen from the dead. He has all authority and power in heaven and on earth! When I mention His Name heaven, hell and earth recognizes that authority! Therefore I can be bold and without fear to proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom of God!
Amen
Be bold be strong for the Lord your God is with you
Don't be afraid or dismayed
Even if you go through the fire of trials and temptations: you will not be burned
Even if you go through the waters of the floods of the enemy who wants to destroy you: you will not be drowned!
The Lord will guide you through it all and you will stand with the Redeemed at the end of the age giving glory to His saving grace and His power to keep you from all evil and preserve you blameless unto the end for His name's sake!
