Energy to Shine for Jesus
Energy to Shine for Jesus
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town
The appeal:
“Wherefore my beloved ones, as you always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, carry to its ultimate conclusion, [likeness to the Lord Jesus] your own salvation with a wholesome, serious caution and trembling, for God is the One who is constantly putting forth His energy in you, both in the form of your being desirous of and your doing His good pleasure.” Phil. 2:12,13 Wuest’s Greek Translation
To Will: 1Jn 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
1Jn 5:15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
To Do: Faith working through love is the key. Gal. 5:6 We need to do all things motivated by His love. 1 Cor. 13:3
The result is that we are:
“God’s children without blemish, in the midst of a perverse and distorted generation among whom you appear as luminaries in the world, holding forth the word of life.”
Energy points to help us shine for Jesus:
1. Work out your salvation to the finish.
2. Approach your walk of faith with caution and reverent fear to God.
3. Pray for the likeness of Christ Jesus in you.
4. Use God’s energy for your transformation to His image.
5. Shine in the darkness by holding to the word of truth in all things, as a lifestyle.
To be a light for Jesus requires a dedicated life, and a commitment to the truth of God’s Word. There are often winds of doctrine that threaten our foundations of faith. We make use of the fivefold ministries to help us stand and become equipped to handle the winds of doctrine and grow into the full measure of the stature of Christ.
The concept of energy excites me – even more so that God is putting froth His energy in us! His energy gives us the desire to be His luminaries and to fulfil His will and good pleasure in the earth. The more we work out our salvation – being more like Jesus – the more we can access His will and download that energy and force to fulfil it. It is not by might, not by power, but by the Holy Spirit – He is the energy of God in us.
When Apostle Paul encourages the young apostle timothy to stir up the gifts that is in him through the laying on of his hands, part of that process is to switch on that energy that is already within by faith.
If you agree with this, let’s pray:
Father God, we come to you in the name of Jesus. We welcome your life and energy of Your Holy Spriit into our lives and ask that you complete the transformation of our spirit, soul and body into your likeness. We realise we can’t do it alone and welcome your messengers and sent ones in our lives to help us grow. We submit to Your will for our lives and dedicate ourselves to shine your light in the dark world to help others see your light of truth in your Word. We give you all the glory as we fulfil your will in Jesus’ name, amen.
