Meekness

Meekness.

By Apostle Aje Pelser, Monrovia, Liberia. 12th June 2012.

It all begins and ends with Jesus. Meekness is one of two things he said we should learn from him as we read in Matthew 11:28, 29, 30.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ?29? Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am ?gentle and ?e?lowly in heart, ?and you will find rest for your souls. ?30? For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Aspects of Meekness that will help us find rest for our souls:

Meekness.

Definition

Meekness can be defined as strength under control. Apostle Andre Pelser preaches about the two horses. One horse was captured to serve the king, the other roamed free. Years later the kings carriage passed by and the wild horse, now torn up by time and neglect, observes the other horse, groomed to perfection, well fed and strong, drawing the king’s carriage with dignity and discipline.

Examples of Meekness

Moses was the meekest man.

Numbers 12:3

“Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.”

Jesus was just as meek if not more:

Matthew 11:29

?28? Come to ?c?Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ?29? Take My yoke upon you ?d?and learn from Me, for I am ?6?gentle and ?e?lowly in heart, ?f?and you will find rest for your souls. ?30? ?g?For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

The Meek inherit the earth

Jesus preached about the meek:

Matthew 5:5

5     ?e?Blessed are the meek,

For ??they shall inherit the earth.

Meekness gives Security and Safety

The Meek will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger:

Zephaniah 2:3

3     ?b?Seek the Lord, ?c?all you meek of the earth,

     Who have upheld His justice.

     Seek righteousness, seek humility.

?d?It may be that you will be hidden

In the day of the Lord’s anger.

Meekness adds Beauty

The Lord will beautify the Meek with Salvation

Psalms 149:4

4     For ?d?the Lord takes pleasure in His people;

?e?He will beautify the ?2?humble with salvation.
