Instructions for the Upright
Instructions for the Upright
By Apostle Aje Pelser; preached at Harvester Cape Town, 21st November 2010
Psalm 32 is a didactic poem that gives us instruction for upright living.
Think about the blessings of forgiveness
Remember that we deserve death for our sins. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Deal with Every form of sin
Deal with every form of sin
Sin (1)
(?????, ?a??a'th, “a missing,” ???, 'won, “perversity” ?????, pesh?, “transgression,” ??, r?, “evil,” etc.; α?μαρτανα, hamartano, “miss the mark,” παρα´βασις, parábasis, “transgression” with a suggestion of violence, α?δικι´α, adiki´a, “injustice,” “unrighteousness”): ISBE
Transgression includes rebellion
Sin makes us miss the mark for our lives, it is an offence.
Iniquity is moral perversity and the punishment that comes with it.
Let the Lord forgive you
Your rebellion – 1 Sam 15:23
Let the Lord Cover you
God paid the ransom for your sins with the blood of Jesus
Mar 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
1Pe 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "LOVE WILL COVER A MULTITUDE OF SINS."
Realize God does not hold it against you anymore – impute:
Col 2:14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Remove deception through confession
1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Selah – Think about it
A suspension of music, a meditative pause. Think about it for a part of your day. How does God want me to live? How much has He done for me?
Make God your hiding place
Isa 28:17 Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place.
Praise God – he surrounds you with Songs of Deliverance
Paul and Silas in jail…
Receive the Spirit of instruction
2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Let God Lead you with His Eye
Luk 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
SINGLE G573 haplous (hap-looce)'
Probably from G1 (as a particle of union) and the base of G4120; properly folded together, that is, single (figuratively clear): – single.
G4120 plek'-o
A primary word; to twine or braid: – plait.
Our perspective folded together with God’s!
A Father can eventually guide his children with his eye!
Lay down your idols of Stubbornness
Trust in God
Faith means trust
Let Mercy Surround you
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
1Ti 1:16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.
When you operate in mercy it becomes a pattern to those you are reaching with the Gospel.
Be Glad
It is a decision.
Pro 17:22 A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones. Remember how David said his bones grew old?
Rejoice
Rejoice in believing: Romans 15:13. Rejoice in the Lord always. He who has a merry heart has a continual feast…
