Correlations that cause you to win souls.

Win Souls

Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town

There are three correlations that cause you to win souls. Once you see it, you will understand the relationship between wisdom and fulfilled vision, mercy and awareness of people’s struggles, and you will help them inherit God’s glorious presence in their lives.

1. Operate in Wisdom and Vision
Pro 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.

Lift up your Eyes and see the harvest
Joh 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
Joh 4:35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!
Jesus was speaking about living water and spiritual food. What was that sustenance all about? When you fulfil God’s will by reaching out and bringing in the harvest, you are spiritual satisfied. While we only live for ourselves, life is very one dimensional.

2. Focus on Mercy and become aware of Souls
Jud 1:20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
Jud 1:21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jud 1:22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction;
Jud 1:23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
Find the area of life that requires mercy and focus on that, presenting God’s richness of mercy for that person in that specific area. I have often witnessed to people who told me they are past forgiving because of what they’ve done. The concept is so engrained in their thinking that you need to persevere long term to get them into a new paradigm of salvation from that abyss. Give them a light of hope, a spark of mercy and see if they latch onto that because that is where you start to win them. Often, they need to forgive themselves first and then others too. A woman once lost her son on a school tour and blamed the school and everyone else, probably God too. When she came to our Bible class she said people had told her that the only way she can move forward is to go to that BIble school next to the school where her boy died. I remember telling her to forgive the school and the teacher in charge on the tour. It was a battle for her to forgive but once she did the flood gates opened. She started to grow spiritually and her family came to church.

Become aware of stumbling blocks and pain points for souls
Rom 14:15 Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died.
Rom 14:16 Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil;
Rom 14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Rom 14:18 For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.
By preaching and teaching on the kingdom of God, versus propagating religion, we can show souls a new way of life that is based on right standing with God through faith in Jesus, that has peace that passes understanding and joy in the Holy Spirit and in believing.
There are pain points that you need to discern when you are dealing with people’s souls. Sometimes a lie lodges in their emotions, or in their reasoning about something. Let the Spirit of God help you and use the word as a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

3. Help them inherit the promises and glory
1Co 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Heb 6:12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
The revelation of Christ in you is your hope of glory. What has Jesus revealed to you by His word over the years? Jot down a few examples of where you have imitated Christ Jesus in your life and when you speak to someone about Jesus, share that specific example that they need. Identify some of the promises that they are longing for, or have not realized yet. Give them an anchor of hope that their promise can be realized if they allow Jesus into their journey with them.

Help them access glory
Jud 1:24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
Jud 1:25 To God our Saviour, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.

To be able to stand in God’s presence is the objective of winning souls. Jesus’ blood prepares us for the ultimate reconciliation and restoration to constant presence of God through the Holy Spirit. Adam and Eve hid when they sinned. God asked them where they were. Did He not know? He felt a disturbance in the relationship. A distance in love. A rift of affection. You feel this with people when they have a change of heart towards you or you to them. There is a chasm that only Jesus can cross with His sacrifice on the cross! Operating in His ways alone can cross that divide. To present others faultless in His glory is only possible by the rejuvenation that comes from the Holy Spirit within, purchased by the redemptive work of Jesus’ blood.
