Ambassadors of Christ

Ambassadors of Christ
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town

“Paul a divinely-summoned and divinely-appointed ambassador belonging to Christ Jesus, an ambassador by reason of God’s determining will, and Sosthenes our brother, to the assembly of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been set apart for the worship and service of God, this act of setting apart having been accomplished by being placed in Christ Jesus and thus being in vital union with Him, consecrated ones, this consecration having been by divine appointment and summons, with all those who are calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, their Lord and ours. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.”
1st Corinthians 1:1-3 Wuest’s Translation of the New Testament

In this wonderful apostolic greeting we find protocols that will present us as ambassadors of Christ Jesus.
Protocol 1: Divine Summons
Protocol 2: Divine Appointment
Protocol 3: Ambassador belonging to a King.
Protocol 4: God’s Will
Protocol 5: Placed in Christ Jesus – the Body, the Assembly of God
Protocol 6: Union with Christ and His Church
Protocol 7: Consecrated and equipped for every good work
Protocol 8: Ability to call on the name of the Lord anywhere
Protocol 9: Acknowledging other believers
Protocol 10: Grace and peace operating in harmony.

Protocol 1: Divine Summons
Calling is actually an invitation to be appointed and to become a saint. (klētos – Strong’s 2822)
When we accept the invitation, we are replying to God’s calling in our lives and then we are on the journey toward appointment.

Protocol 2: Divine Appointment
Divine appointment does not come quickly and requires the following:
Col_1:7 as you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf,
1Ti_1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
2Ti_2:2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
Heb_3:2 who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.

Protocol 3: Ambassador belonging to a King.
Later apostle Paul writes as an ambassador to the Corinthian Church: 2Co 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
Get to know the One Whom you wish to represent. You need to know how the kingdom of God works before you can accurately act as an ambassador. Learn from ambassadors in your circles:
1Co_4:16 Therefore I urge you, imitate me.
1Co_11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Heb_6:12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
3Jn_1:11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.

Protocol 4: God’s Will
God determines who will be His ambassadors, it is not decided by man. The Will of God is always confirmed with signs and wonders and authority in the spiritual realm.
Act 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
Act 19:16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Act 19:17 This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

Protocol 5: Placed in Christ Jesus – the Body
It is a privilege to be part of an assembly that consecrated for the worship and service of God.
Eph 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
1Pe 2:4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,
1Pe 2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1Pe 2:6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHIEF CORNERSTONE, ELECT, PRECIOUS, AND HE WHO BELIEVES ON HIM WILL BY NO MEANS BE PUT TO SHAME.”

Protocol 6: Union with Christ and His Church
1Co 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
1Co 10:17 For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.
Rev 21:9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”
Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

Protocol 7: Consecrated and equipped for every good work
2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Eph 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
Eph 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
Eph 4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
Eph 4:14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
Eph 4:15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—
Eph 4:16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

Protocol 8: Ability to call on the name of the Lord anywhere
Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Mat 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mat 28:20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Act 15:16 ‘AFTER THIS I WILL RETURN AND WILL REBUILD THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID, WHICH HAS FALLEN DOWN; I WILL REBUILD ITS RUINS, AND I WILL SET IT UP;
Act 15:17 SO THAT THE REST OF MANKIND MAY SEEK THE LORD, EVEN ALL THE GENTILES WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, SAYS THE LORD WHO DOES ALL THESE THINGS.’

Protocol 9: Acknowledging other believers
Mar 9:38 Now John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.”
Mar 9:39 But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me.
Mar 9:40 For he who is not against us is on our side.
Mar 9:41 For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.

Protocol 10: Grace and peace operating in harmony.
Rom 1:5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,
Rom 1:6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;
Rom 1:7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The origins of the word peace (eirēnē G1515

Means to “set at one again” or to “join”. There is also the concept of quietness and prosperity that is linked to peace.
The reason grace is needed, is because it activates the joining force of peace with “the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life” in a gracious act the favour of God, bringing thanksgiving in the process. (Charis; G5485)

We apply this force of grace that activates the joining force of peace in Jesus name in our collective spirit, soul and body as a church.
As ambassadors of Jesus Christ and His glorious kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, go out into all the world and represent Him to your generation in all your spheres of influence.
