Unlock Your Inner Reformer

Preacher:
Passage: Hebrews 9:7-14

Unlock Your Inner Reformer
By Apostle Aje Pelser, Pretoria, Cape Town, Harvester Reformational Church, October 2014.

In this current move of God, we need to see Jesus the Reformer within. Not only that, we should become aware of Jesus the Reformer in each other. Knowing one another after the spirit is critical to see the heavenly blueprint of Church in our sphere of existence.

Reformation – means to straighten out and set in order. We understand the reformation Jesus began for his church as being conformed to the image of Christ:
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Rom 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Jesus’ reformation is summarized in Hebrews:
Heb 9:7 But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people\’s sins committed in ignorance;
Heb 9:8 the Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing.
Heb 9:9 It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience—
Heb 9:10 concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.
Heb 9:11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.
Heb 9:12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
Heb 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh,
Heb 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Keys of the Kingdom –Jesus said to his apostles He would give them the keys of the Kingdom. But what does that mean? From my experience, God entrusts keys to his faithful sent ones for the sake of the church. There are those who had the keys of knowledge to let people into God’s presence but instead hindered people form going further with God through traditions of man that make void the power of God.
God’s kingdom ios not in eating and drinking, but in righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. We seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto us.

Some keys that will unlock your inner reformer include:
• Knowledge
• Wisdom & Understanding
• Christ-centeredness
• Faith
• Kingdom Righteousness

?
The key of Knowledge and fear of the Lord (A key has 2 sides)
Luk 11:52 \”Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.\”

Wisdom & Understanding
In the age of information, impartation will become important. You can Goggle anything you like in an instant today, but still lack experiential knowledge and understanding of the implementation of that knowledge. An example would be to read about surfing, watch all the contests, know all the moves, but if you are not willing ot paddle out and face the waves… only a surfer will know the feeling…
The price to pay to catch a wave is also not on the internet and has to be experienced.
Pro 24:3 Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established;
Pro 24:4 By knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches.
Ask God for His spirit of wisdom and understanding, because then you will be established in any situation.

The Key of Christ-centeredness
“If you make seeking Him the most pre-eminent thing in your life, He will take care of so many things that you think you need to take care of…”
Chapter One rediscovers the value of Gravitational Force and relates to the law of attraction between organisations and individuals alike, albeit on a different scale.
In Astronomy the Centripetal Force “seeks the centre” of a galactic system. To balance the inward force there is an outward force called the “Centrifugal Force” away from the centre.
Communion with Christ and the love of the body of believers locally is in balance with commission to go and make disciples of all nations.
Orbital Structure for a Local Church

An orbital structure seeks to draw people to Christ through Communion and fellowship of the saints in the area of participating in the same vision together with the same purpose and goals in mind.

The fundamental paradigm shift is making Jesus Christ the centre of all operations. This concept is challenging to translate into practical terms. However, the Word of God can be considered as the final authority on all issues. It therefore remains that all members of such a church be grounded in the Word of God.

The effect of revolving all activities around Christ, the “Sun” of our “solar system”, is the elimination of ambition amongst church members who try to reach the “top” of the structure. Hierarchical structures representing pyramids, promote competition and ambition. Apostle Paul said:
“Some indeed even because of envy and strife [or, rivalry], but some also because of goodwill [or, good motives] are preaching Christ.
“The [former ones] indeed proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition [or, self-interest], not sincerely [or, of pure motives], supposing to be causing me to be experiencing distress in my bonds,” Philippians 1:15

He reminds us to:
“[Do] nothing according to selfish ambition or empty [or, groundless] conceit, but with humility be regarding one another [as] being better than yourselves. Stop being concerned each one about the things of themselves, but each one also [about] the things of others.
Indeed, be letting the frame of mind [or, attitude] be in you which [was] also in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 2:3-5
Analytical-Literal Translation,

The ultimate goal of each believer is to be more like Christ, Who is the Head of the Church. We also learn from current apostolic reformational theology that we are a body of believers and that each person affects the other in a local church.

Apostle André Pelser writes: “God’s genius lies in the very fact that a single human being cannot contain the whole mind of God. According to scripture, the manifold wisdom of God is displayed to the world through the church.”

Thus the desire in us to develop the nature of Christ becomes a “centripetal” force that “seeks a centre”, a force in physics which is opposite to the centrifugal force, away from the centre.

Another vector of this centripetal force is the concept of “Communion”. This not only refers to remembrance of Christ’s death and resurrection, but also to the constant communion a believer enjoys with God through the agency of His Holy Spirit which has been poured out on all flesh. Jesus spoke about “abiding in Him”:

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:4,5
Modern King James Version,

Commitment to Christ and love for God and one another is a force towards the centre, or centripetal force that helps to settle people in their orbits within a local church.

We realize that God’s goodness brings about repentance, or simply, a change of heart, moving us into new orbits of living.

Love for one another is a gravitational force that keeps us together in one orbital system. That love includes the accountability mentioned earlier, even as the earth orbits the sun, so the satellite of the earth orbits the earth. Every orbit in a local church needs a regular circuit of activities and communication.

The Key of Faith
When Peter and John raised the lame man at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple, they explained the miracle this way: “Act 3:16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”
The victory that overcomes the world is your faith.
1Jn 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1Jn 5:5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Being a reformer means to have a long term view of the process. We do not get discouraged by lack of initial sensory evidence and persevere as seeing Him who is invisible like Moses had to…
Paul encourages us:
2Co 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
2Co 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
2Co 4:18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Reformers Actions that Leads to Holiness
King Josiah the Reformer
His life was a fulfilment of prophecy. A man of God prophesied over him by name long before he was born.
He started to reign and reform his country when he was only 8 years of age.
He had a healthy relationship with the prophets and the priests as well as the scribes in the temple.
They found the book of the Law and the prophecy about him while the temple was being cleansed and renovated.
His reaction to the Word of the Lord to tear his clothes and humble himself caused the Lord to spare his generation the wrath that was to come.

The Key of Kingdom Righteousness
Legitimacy through correction sustains a right lifestyle
Rom 4:3 For what does the Scripture say? \”ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS ACCOUNTED TO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.\”
Heb 12:11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
Heb 12:12 Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees,
Heb 12:13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness and judgement.
You know there are times when you will be convicted that you are actually right for a change! As ministers of the New Covenant we are to preach people right with God, not guilty with God! This is a major shift in ministerial approach and while some still see how many people can respond to the altar call at church every Sunday – many of whom are saved weekly without a knowledge and security of salvation – Jesus is building His church with Believers who understand their new creation identity and the benefits entailed.
Let’s keep doing altar calls for salvation sure – but if someone keeps getting saved every week they have not used their key of righteousness by faith in to enter in the kingdom – they are in and out every week! God not only gives you a key, but a new city to dwell in complete with streets, mansions, friends and family – let’s immigrate to Righteous Land and stay there – forever!
