Anchor Scripture
Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Joh 14:7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
Joh 14:8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”
Joh 14:9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Joh 14:10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

Characteristics of a divine Father Son relationship.

Sons reflect their father’s glory.
Jesus was the first begotten Son of God.
Joh_1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
The good news is that He has become the firstborn among many brethren: if we believe in Him we can also be sons of God!

Sons have zeal for their father’s House
Joh_2:16 And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!”
Joh 2:17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “ZEAL FOR YOUR HOUSE HAS EATEN ME UP.”

Sons understand their privileges as heirs of the Father.
Joh_3:35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.
My own dad used to say to me: “All I have is yours!” Eventually that became a reality, but while I grew in responsibility, he trained me in God’s ways like Abraham, so that I can handle the weight of the responsibility and be a wise steward of God’s house and our family resources.

Sons know how to worship God
Joh_4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

The Father shows the Son greater works
Joh_5:17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”
Joh_5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
Joh_5:20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
Joh_5:21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.
Joh_5:36 But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

A Son operates in righteous judgment.
Joh_5:22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,
Joh_5:23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
Joh_5:30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

Sons understand their source and seal of approval from the Father.
Joh_6:27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

The Father’s nature draws the right people to you.
Joh_6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
Joh 6:44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

Sons operate in forgiveness.
Luk_23:34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Sons commit themselves to their Father.
Luk_23:46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last.
