Scripture: Romans 1:8-17
Rom 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
Rom 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers,
Rom 1:10 making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you.
Rom 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established—
Rom 1:12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
Rom 1:13 Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.
Rom 1:14 I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise.
Rom 1:15 So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.
The Righteous Shall Live by Faith
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Rom 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”
Here are some reasons not to be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.
1. It is a Gospel of Faith. Your faith is the victory that overcomes this world. Even a little mustard seed size of faith can move a mountain. Don’t despise the little faith you have and begin to use it in the direction of the Gospel message and all it’s good news for those who believe.
2. The Gospel reveals how to serve God: with our spirit, in the Gospel of Jesus and in prayers to live it out in our lives and pass on the message effectively.
3. It is a Gospel of impartation, not information. Here we are to allow the Holy Spirit to take the dynamite of the Gospel and ignite it by His fire. Even Satan knew how ot quote the knowledge of the Word, but Jesus was filed with he Holy Spirit and fire and He defeated Satan with the Word, cast out demons, had power over nature, cured the sick, the lame and maimed, cleansed lepers and raised the dead. The gifts of the Spirit flow from a belief in the Gospel accompanied with the baptism I the Holy Spirit and fire.
4. Impartation of the Gospel is effective because it has to happen in person. All our technology is a good platform to create awareness, but the contact point of faith, like laying on of hands, is still the best way to receive your healing in Jesus’ name. Sitting with someone and hearing their pain and praying with them is still brings the most comfort. Showing people love who are in dire straits and helping them when they need it is still the best form of expressing compassion. Emojis won’t cut it!
5. When we pray in line with the Gospel it removes hindrances for us to go and share the good news. It also brings great fruit.
6. The Gospel of Jesus has no prejudice, it is given freely for all to access and apply by faith in Jesus’ name.
7. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation. The power is not there to satisfy our curiosity. It is there to bring someone to salvation on all levels. You may be saved, but you may feel depressed, the Gospel can save you and give you oil of joy.
8. The Gospel of Jesus Christ reveals the righteousness of God through faith, versus works. If it were by works, only a few people would make it into the kingdom of heaven! Thank God it depends on Jesus’ performance on the cross, and not our own dead works to try and be holy. The Holy Spirit has even been given to enforce that righteousness and sanctify us through a process of lifelong discipleship.
You can really be bold when proclaiming this Gospel of good news, because it has so much power in it, that you will see God confirm it with signs and wonders following in your life and in those who receive it from you. Therefore, we are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation and in it His righteousness is revealed!
