Prophetic Flow

The faces of the man of God: The Eagle: Session Three

Prophetic Flow

By Apostle Carel Marais

The faces of the man of God: The Eagle; refers to man’s Prophetic nature or the Prophetic flow being restored to the Church/Body in the last days.

I am of the opinion that God wants all his people to prophesy or be able to flow in the Prophetic: Under the old covenant, before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the office of the prophet and the gift of prophecy were reserved for a small group of individuals that God would rest upon from time to time and for very specific purposes. The gift of prophecy was governed strictly, under penalty of death for false prophecy. However, as early as the days of Moses, a day was anticipated when God would pour out His Spirit on all His people with the result that all God’s people would prophesy.(Num.11:29)

Under the new covenant, God answered Moses’ prayer: And it shall come to pass in the last days says God, that I will pour out of my spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams, and on my menservants and on my maidservants I will pour out my Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy (Acts 2:17-18)

In its broadest sense, Joel is declaring that God’s people will all operate in a prophetic spirit. The spirit of prophecy is not limited simply to the gift of prophecy nor even to the office of the prophet. The spirit of prophecy, is the church operating under the flow of the Holy Spirit, exalting Jesus in everything that she does.(Rev.19:10)

We can learn from the life of king David how that he operated in this way (before the coming of Christ as a prophetic act) and even more significantly we see how that this kind of prophetic flow and music were connected.

1 Chron 25: 1(2-8) And David and the commanders of the army separated some to the service of the sons of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, whowere prophets with/ (or who prophesied with) harps, with lyres and with cymbals.

Here we see the two-way action of worship, auctioned towards God but also divine feedback into their circumstances from a Living God. God is not a God afar – NO, God is close at hand. God speaks – clearly. He speaks to the meek and lowly, the childlike, the obedient, who will take Him at His word in simplicity and act upon it.

Looking to Paul we c that it was not optional for him to function in the gifts of the Spirit but normal and essential for the health of the church that everyone could flow and operate in the Spirit. Paul exhorts the Church at Corinth to eagerly desire the gift of prophecy even though the Corinthian believers were immature in their faith, non-spiritual in their lives, and divisive and destructive in their use of the spiritual gifts. Yet, it is the Corinthians that Paul exhorts more than any other group to pursue accurate understanding and use of the gift of prophecy.

1 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy (1 Cor.14:1)

The Prophetic in tandem with the Apostolic is a powerful punch in the spirit realm. Submitting to the Lord, yielding to His Spirit, we can and should operate in the same truth David's music directors operated in, to the benefit of the church. It is His church, after all and as the command is given in Rev 19:10 Worship God! (Command) For the Testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy – we too should operate in.

Why is it important for us to prophesy in this way? Paul explains that his instructions concerning spiritual gifts are actually commandments from the Lord.

37If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. (1 Cor.14:37)

This was a command given by king David in 1 Chron 25 – It was of vital importance. Why? With so many enemies on the borders of Israel, David knew that hearing from God through prophesy was vital for their protection and direction and in the same way God is rebuilding the fallen House of David in our time to direct and protect his church.

In Amos 9:11 we read, and again this is mentioned in Acts 15:16-17 that; in that day (the latter days) will I raise up the Tabernacle of David that is fallen. It is believed that it refers to the restoration of Davidic, prophetic worship in the last days; singing and playing instruments, according to the instruction of the Lord.

Now David wanted to build a Temple for Yahweh but couldn’t because he wasn’t supposed to, his sons were. David was a man of war.

David brought the sword and shed blood. Though David had the heart of a worshipper he wasn’t permitted to put his bloodshed hands to work. 1 Chronicles 28:3 ’But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.’

See rebuilding the fallen Tabernacle of David is more that just rebuilding awesome Prophetic Worship. It is gaining access to God true prophetic dimensions of war. David united the 12 tribes of Israel through war. Through his Kingship God established the nation of Israel. Rebuilding the fallen Tabernacle of David is restoring Kingly government in the earth through warfare/worship.

Now the how of it we see in what happens when we say yes to the prophetic. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. When we say yes to the apostolic and the prophetic as a church and as individuals we say yes to God doing a deep cleansing in us. Much repentance, even deliverance is taking place. It is a baptism of fire and a reformation that is taking place in our hearts. It is the kind of worship that wars against the self and puts God back into His rightful place.

It is a Matt 15:13 event in the church: where every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. & v 12 explains that when Jesus did this the pharisees were offended when they heard this saying.

The truth always offends the hypocrites. The Lord will remove every person who is causing division and who do not want to change, in the body, in the music team etc.

When we understand the face of the eagle and the restoring to accurate prophetic flow in the church we need to understand that things will be exposed. Those who humble themselves will go through deliverance; others will merely flee, refusing to repent.

Accurate prophetic flow will exposes hidden attitudes. In a church where there is a strong prophetic flow there is a great need for submission. Unity is vital to the continuous flow of the prophetic but unity is created by God – we only maintain the unity through the attitude of meekness and submission.

David’s three appointed leaders over the prophetic flow were; Asaph -who's name means UNITY; Jeduthan – meaning FLOW LIKE OIL and Heman – meaning FAITHFUL. These three ingredients are part of a prophetic apostolic company of people.

The prophetic song is part of an apostolic company of people. It resounds through the ages. It became lost through the traditions of men, but praise God, it is restored back into the church. Once you've tasted the new wine in new wine skins, the old is no longer good. But beware – this new wine can not be poured into old wine skins – they will burst.

What is an old wine skin? Worn out leather, thin and cracking. Worn out ways not having the capacity to hold or receive the new. Old wine skins are scared of the new, don't like liberty because control and manipulation is impossible. Old wine skins are unsuitable for the new requires humility and meekness. They're stuck in a mould of resistance to what suits the – me – factor.

Embrace the new and call the old obsolete – the new song/ the new sound. There is an ample supply of new songs, spiritual songs in the spiritual realm. But it requires new wine skins.

How is the church to participate in this kind of song? Easy – we take the answer from the tabernacle of David.

You will see that there were known songs sung, some written on Philistine tunes. You will also find psalms that instructed the people, calling them to rejoice or shout, dance, meditate or just plain to listen to and then respond with – Amen – or – Selah -a pause to think about and inwardly respond, repent, or change, or just agree – yes!

When a prophetic song is sung, the church participates through listening, when phrases are repeated, they join in. Scribes write and type the prophetic flow on the overhead projectors so that everyone can follow and hear God speak through the worship.

There are times when you cannot do anything else but fall prostrate before the Lord. There are times when joyful sounds emit out of your being, because word fail. There are times when tongues are singing what words fail to utter, there are times when utterance by the spirit is the only thing you can do, for you are inspired from on high to flow like Oil flows.

Let Him increase in your life as you decrease and dancing, praising and shouting will become second nature to you. An awe of God comes from humbly submitting to His Word, ways, thoughts and precepts. Not my way Lord, Your way.

True prophecy can be tested by whether it ultimately results in the correction, edification, exhortation and comfort of the believer, flowing out in the worship of Jesus. Prophecy is designed to help us see and marvel at the beauty and wisdom of Jesus and make sense of his ways in the world and in our lives.

The gift of prophecy is given to exalt Jesus in the life of the church (making her more like Jesus) and in the world (drawing people to the knowledge of Christ). The goal of the Holy Spirit as he manifests His gifts in us, is to draw greater attention, not to the individual but to Christ who is shown forth as the body functions as one unit.

When we understand accurate prophetic flow in the church we need to understand that with it things will be exposed. Those who humble themselves will go through deliverance; others will merely flee, refusing to repent.

Accurate prophetic flow will exposes hidden attitudes. In a church where there is a strong prophetic flow there is a great need for submission.
