Follwing up last week's message that Christ has become our Wisdom, Rightoeusness, Sanctification and Redemption; we continue to grow in the knowledge of Christ. However, apostle Peter gives us a list of things 'To Do' to become fruitful in the knowledge of Christ.Knowledge of Christ
By Apostle Aje Pelser
18 December 2004.12.18 Preached at Harvester Reformational Church, Milnerton Cape Town.
Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 1:3-11.
2Pe 1:3 according as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue,
2Pe 1:4 through which He has given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, so that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2Pe 1:5 But also in this very thing, bringing in all diligence, filling out your faith with virtue, and with virtue, knowledge;
2Pe 1:6 and with knowledge self-control, and with self-control, patience, and with patience, godliness,
2Pe 1:7 and with godliness, brotherly kindness, and with brotherly kindness, love.
2Pe 1:8 For if these things are in you and abound, they make you to be neither idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Pe 1:9 For he in whom these things are not present is blind and cannot see afar off and has forgotten that he was purged from his sins in the past.
2Pe 1:10 Therefore, brothers, rather be diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things, you shall never fall.
2Pe 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I have used the King James Version of the Bible for reference, and the Modern King James Version for easier reading. Check out e-sword.com for free downloads of these versions of the Bible along with Bible dictionaries and more. It is freeware and the download time is worth the wait.
There are 8 words that caught my attention in the scripture reading.
Faith; Virtue; Knowledge; Temperance (Self-control); Patience; Godliness; Brotherly Kindness; Charity (Love)
We all want to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Here is an actual ‘To Do’ list that will help us achieve that goal.
It’s wonderful that He has already equipped us to do these things:
‘according as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue,’
It is His divine power accessed by knowing Jesus Christ that enables us to live this life in a Godly way.
Here follows a complete Word Study of that TO DO list:

What is the definition of faith? Hebrews 11:1
