Love Never Fails
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, 20th August 2023

Here are some scriptural reasons why love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8, Wuest’s Greek Translation

“Love meekly and patiently bears ill treatment from others. Love is kind, gentle, benign, pervading and penetrating the whole nature, mellowing all which would have been harsh and austere; is not envious. Love does not brag, nor does it show itself off, is not ostentatious, does not have an inflated ego, does not act unbecomingly, does not seek after the things which are its own, is not irritated, provoked, exasperated, aroused to anger, does not take into account the evil [which it suffers], does not rejoice at the iniquity but rejoices with the truth, endures all things, believes all things, hopes all things, bears up under all things, not losing heart nor courage.
Love never fails.”

Love can absorb and process ill treatment.
1Co_4:12 And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;
1Pe_2:23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

Love can radiate warmth and acceptance.
Eph_1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Love can melt the hardest hearts, mellow austerity.
Pro_15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Love celebrates others versus competing out of envy.

Love can afford humility and has no need to promote self at the expense of others.
Php 2:4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

Love is not puffed up with self-knowledge and ego but regards others.
Php 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Love isn’t rude – it knows how to behave in every situation.
Php_4:5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

Love chooses its battles and is neither aroused to anger nor trapped in little offenses.

Love doesn’t just look out for itself but considers others first.

Love doesn’t allow evil thoughts to continue or to drain it of energy.

Love does not rejoice in wrongdoing but celebrates what is true in the situation.

Love has endurance to run the race of faith.

Love continues to believe no matter what.

Love has an anchor of hope that enters the presence of God for us.

Love can bear up under pressure and the trials of our faith. Jas 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
Jas 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

Love doesn’t lose heart and operates in courageous faith in the Lord Jesus and His promises.

Love can’t fail because God is Love.
1Jn 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

His love is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
Rom 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
The Holy Spirit also cultivates the love of God in our hearts.
