The very revelation of the Great “I Am” means “I exist”. Jesus Christ uttered these words proclaiming: “Before Moses was, I Am.”
God revealed Himself to Moses:
Exo 3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
Exo 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
Exo 3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
Exo 3:16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:
Exo 3:17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.

A primitive root (compare H1933); to exist, that is, be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary): – beacon, X altogether, be (-come, accomplished, committed, like), break, cause, come (to pass), continue, do, faint, fall, + follow, happen, X have, last, pertain, quit (one-) self, require, X use.
God Exists – so do we
God exists and His nature “comes to pass” whenever He has revealed Himself to mankind.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are reminded of the scripture that encapsulates faith:
“Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a Rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
I Am’s in the Gospel of John
Anton De Gruchy writes about the 7 “I Am’s” in John: ( “Images of Christ” – Mediations from John’s Gospel, by Anton De Gruchy.)
Bread of Life
Light of the World
The Door
The Good Shepherd
The Resurrection
The Way, the Truth & the life.
De Gruchy also mentions the fact that Jesus said: “I Am in the Father and the Father in me.” John 14:10
De Gruchy points out: For the List of “I Am's” to operate in you, you need to believe that the “I Am” is in you.
“I Am” Principle
Apostle André Pelser always speaks about the “I Am” principle.
God is our Father and we are made in His image.
When Moses asked God who shall he say sent him to pharaoh, God did not waver and hesitate, but stated “I Am that I Am.” “(God) did not doubt His role or His function…” “Jesus could boldly say who and what He was. Paul admitted his apostleship. Unless one is first personally convicted that you are a prophet or an apostle how on earth are others going to believe it. You conviction establishes you.”
“It takes humility to admit what you are by the grace of God.” (“God’s Genius – apostolic reformational theology” pp232.)
Apostle Andre only started admitting that he was apostle after he was rebuked by some other apostles and prophets in Portland, Oregon, USA. They saw a vision of Andre’s door bearing the title “Pastor” and challenged him to take it off and put “apostle” on his door. What they did not know, was that Andre had inherited that sign on the door from his father, “Pastoor A. J. Pelser” (Pastoor = Afrikaans translation of “pastor.”). Amazing how people on the other side of the world can pick up the identity of a spiritual man, as well as see the mistaken identity.
Now take this a step further –
Can we respond to the same question of identity with such confidence?
Spiritual Identity
In order to operate in the kingdom of God, you need to know who you are. Moreover, in order to operate in the spiritual realm, your identity needs to be secure in Christ.
Look what happens to people who venture into the spiritual realm without a secure “I Am” in place in their lives:
Act 19:9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
Act 19:10 And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
Act 19:11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
Act 19:12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
Act 19:13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
Act 19:14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
Act 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Act 19:16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Act 19:17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
Act 19:18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and showed their deeds.
Act 19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
Act 19:20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
Lessons from Acts
Notice the importance of a high volume of teaching of the Word of God over a space of two years in Ephesus. That accurate teaching accompanied with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and signs and wonders confirming the preaching of the word, was the context of this example of spiritual identity.
“And the evil spirit answered and said,
Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
Are you known in the spiritual realm? Difficult to say whether we are known in the spiritual realm until you are in a spiritual battle for life and death. When you cast out the demon, and set a soul free from torment in Jesus’ name, the proof presents itself.
Practical Application:
You need to know first of all that you can be a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
“Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Once you understand that God is your Father and that He made
