Eph 4:24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
What is this new man that God has created?

Earthy versus heavenly
1Co 15:47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.
1Co 15:48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.
1Co 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

Made in His Image
Gen 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Gen 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

What is true Righteousness?
Abraham believed God’s promises:
• Gen 15:6 And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
• Rom 4:13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

• Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
• Rom 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”

How do we reach a place of holiness?
Here are some scriptural clues
• Gen_2:3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
• Heb 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
• Jud_1:1 Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:

The Holy Spirit:
God is breathing over your life when you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Spirit:
Joh_20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

Jesus ascended to heaven and left us a Helper:
Act_1:2 until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,
Act_1:5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Act_1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

What new man?

• Rom_8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.
Rom_8:20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;
Rom_8:21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Rom_8:22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.
• 2Co_5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
• Gal_6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.
• Col_1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Prayer
Father God, we come to you in the name of Jesus, and we boldly approach your throne of grace by the blood of Jesus. We ask in Jesus’ name that you give us grace to live as new creations as sons of God in this world. Lord Jesus Christ, baptise us with the Holy Spirit and with fire to empower us to be your witnesses of your resurrection and love for the world. Holy Spirit sanctify every chamber of our spirit, soul and body and let your fire remove every evil attachment, every trace of sin and fill us with the conviction of righteousness by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
