Decode the 7 Seals
By Apostle Aje Pelser
Preached at Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town
With notes by Apostle Andre Pelser from the MBTC Subject Manual “Revelation”

While I was reading about the seven seals being opened in the book of Revelation, I saw a repeated phrase of praise and worship to God. There is a theological term for this but let’s unpack some of the correlations that decode the seven seals.
“The Eulogy and the glory and the wisdom and the thanksgiving and the honour and the power and the might be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 7:12
Rev 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created."

Rev 5:12 saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!"
Rev 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: "Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!"

Table of Seals and correlations of praise that decode them.
Seal Description Correlation of Praise to God

1 White horse Conquering: Power
2 Red horse Sword: Might
3 Black Horse famine: Thanks
4 Pale Horse: sword, famine, pestilence, and beasts:. Eulogy
5 Martyrs: Honour
6 Earthquake: Glory
7 Judgement & Silence in heaven: First of Seven Trumpets: Wisdom

1st Seal: God’s Power is higher than any conqueror
“As the Lord opened the seals of the book, new visions appeared. As the first seal was opened, a white horse and rider appeared with a bow in his hand and a crown on his head is sent forth to conquer.”
Rom 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We are to be more than overcomers through Jesus Christ who loved us. The most powerful force in our salvation is God’s love.
Focus on His power and His love and nothing can stand against you.

2nd Seal: God’s Might keeps us safe from the Sword
The red horse had a rider with a sword in his hand that was given power to take peace from the earth and to cause nation to rise against nation so that they would kill each other.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

3rd Seal: Thanksgiving for daily bread keeps us through famine and drought.
The third seal revealed a black horse and its rider with a pair of balances in his hands. God weighs our lives in his balance. In Daniel’s time the king was found too light and his kingdom was taken away from him. We need to realize that the way we judge each other is not always the way God does. We ought to leave the judgement of people to God.
1Co 2:15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

4th Seal: Eulogize God during pandemics
The fourth seal was opened and it revealed a pale, grey horse that was called Death. All hell followed him and a quarter of the population of the earth were killed.

Luk 9:23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Luk 9:24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.

5th Seal: Suffering brings honour
The fifth seal revealed the martyrs who desire the judgement of God to come upon the earth for all the things they suffered on behalf of their faith.
The Stoning of Stephen
Act 7:54 When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.
Act 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,
Act 7:56 and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!"
Act 7:57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord;
Act 7:58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
Act 7:59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
Act 7:60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

6th Seal: Glory gives gravity during destruction
There will be a time that the judgement of God will hit the earth and then it will be too late to repent. This time of judgement was revealed when the sixth seal was broken. The earth quaked and split, the heavens were shaken and stars fell to the ground. The sun was darkened and the sky rolled up like a scroll. Peter also describes this event and says that the earth will be destroyed by fire, not by water as in the time of Noah, because God made a covenant with Noah not to destroy the earth that way again.
People, great and small, cried out in fear and begged the mountains and rocks to bury them in order to hide from the face of Him who sits on the throne.
Exo 24:15 Then Moses went up into the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain.
Exo 24:16 Now the glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
Exo 24:17 The sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
Exo 33:21 And the LORD said, "Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock.
Exo 33:22 So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.

1Ki 19:11 Then He said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD." And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake;
1Ki 19:12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
1Ki 19:13 So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

7th Seal: Wisdom guides judgement
The opening of the seventh seal brought silence in heaven. This was an important moment of truth. The judgement of God was released on earth after the seventh seal was opened. At the sound of every trumpet a different judgement hit the earth. Just like God punished Pharaoh with ten plagues for refusing to obey the commands of the Lord, so the entire earth, often compared with Egypt will suffer punishment. The land, the trees, the mountains and the sea; the stars in the sky and even the sun will suffer at the hand of the one who created it, because of the wickedness of the people on earth. And yet the people will be as hardened as Pharaoh was; they still refuse to repent. Because of their hard hearts the angels announce several woes to come.
Balanced Judgement
Col_2:16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,

God is the Judge of the Living and the Dead
2Ti_4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:
2Ti_4:8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Heb_10:30 For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord. And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE."
Heb_12:23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,

Moses Delegates
Deu 1:13 Choose wise, understanding, and knowledgeable men from among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.'

King Solomon’s Wise answer to God
1Ki 3:9 Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"
1Ki 3:10 The speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.
1Ki 3:11 Then God said to him: "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,
1Ki 3:12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you.
1Ki 3:13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days.

Kiss the Son
Psa 2:10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Psa 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
