In sport it is important to get the basic things right before trying fancy moves. As discipline in the basic rules of a game allows greater freedom of individual expression and brilliance so the basic discipline in disicple-making is equally important to allow room for each member of the body of Christ to express the Genius of God individually.
The Great Commission clearly states that we should go out and make disciples. The reason why most believers disobey this command is because they lack the skill in the basic discipline of presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ clearly to those who show an interest. The simple message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation.

Romans 1:15-17
15 So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ?The just shall live by faith.?

It is foolishness to the Greeks and a stumbling block to the Jews because the Greeks rely on human wisdom and the Jews on their religious laws. Instead of believing the Gospel the Greeks argue about it and instead of accepting salvation by faith in Christ the Jews try to obtain it by good works. Faith is a wonderful equaliser: it makes all men equal before God. Young and old can choose to believe or to reject the Gospel.

What is the Gospel?
Euaggelion in Greek means ?a good message? or ?good news?. Aggelos is an angel, a messenger or a sent one. Power is ?dunamis? which means miraculous power. The Gospel releases the miracle working power of God that saves people from sin and the authority of the devil.

The Gospel is God?s message that there is hope of salvation from the wrath of God that punishes sin and wickedness. That is secured in the established historical fact that Jesus Christ died for the sins of humanity to reconcile sinful man with a holy God.
