Anatomy of Jesus’ Miracles

Service Type:

Anatomy of Jesus’ Miracles
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester reformational Church, Cape Town, November 2022. When meditating on the anatomy of Jesus’ miracles, three categories come to mind:
1. Source
2. Structure
3. Simplicity
1. Source The life force flowing through Jesus is available to us who believe. We have access by faith in His powerful name, Jesus! He said to us that if we believe in Him:
Joh 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Joh 14:13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Jesus’ source of miracles and instructions in ministry of power comes directly out of a relationship of love with the Father. People often miss the source of power because they are looking at the resultant miracle, versus the power of God’s love activated by faith in Jesus’ name. In addition, the love of God is then poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. There is the ’three in one’, and that brings the force we need to shift demonic forces, spark a creative miracle and destroy sickness and the works of Satan in people’s lives.
Joh 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
Joh 5:20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
Joh 5:21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.
When Jesus’ healed a man born blind in John chapter 9, where did He see how to spit on the ground to make clay? Read Genesis 2 to find out.
2. This brings us to the structure of a miracle. What structure? You may well ask, because miracles happened like lightning. Even lightning follows a pathway of charged particles that create a path for the electric charge to find earth. Similarly, when we are used of God, our spiritual positioning and obedience to His Word and His ways, submission to yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit, helps to create the perfect structure for the power of God to flow through our lives. Moreover, the blockages in our emotions, our thinking, even in our spiritual life can hinder the flow of the anointing. Living a fasted life is important to be used of God. There will be times of separation from the business of life, and times of seclusion to hear from God with an open Bible without distractions. This is easier said than done!
Take for example the power Jesus displayed when he rebuked the storm:
Jesus Rebuked the wind saying: “Peace” – and the wind ceased. Jesus aid unto the sea – “Be still” – and brought a great calm. The word used for “be still” is to “muzzle” which infers the owner of an animal being able to muzzle it. You cant muzzle something if it is not yours to muzzle! The creator of the ocean has the authority to muzzle it and tell it to be still and calm down! (from Dr Gray’s notes in Life of Christ, available from www.miraclebibletc.org )
This is the structure of the revelation of the true sons of God in the earth. In order to have an impact on the earth we live in, we need to understand ownership and the creative structural forces of God through faith in Jesus’ name. We can shift principalities in the heavenly realms, we can change communities for the better, we can give our neighbourhoods a spiritual facelift and even cooperate with our Lord to change the physical health of people in His name.
Jesus Calms a Storm
Mar 4:35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”
Mar 4:36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.
Mar 4:37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
Mar 4:38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Mar 4:39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Mar 4:40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

When considering the anatomy of a miracle, the structure of commission and purpose is important: “let us cross over to the other side.” Anything that stands in the way of Jesus’ command needs to bow, including the ocean! The Lord told us to build churches with Bible Schools, we have done that all over the world and now at our base in Cape Town, South Africa.
We have many regional bases across the world that serve a similar purpose to spearhead this move of God into vast territories supporting the work and the workers to fulfil what Jesus told us to do in His great commission to go and make disciples of all nations and His all-encompassing command to love. By His grace we continue with the faithful support of our confederation of churches, partners and affiliated ministries.
God has placed miracles in the church, alongside the other gifts and functions.
1Co 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
1Co 12:28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

The context of miracles is the church representing the full attributes of Jesus the Head of the Church. Trying to represent Christ alone is like running onto a rugby field alone expecting to be competitive. Christians without a solid home base church, are loose canons causing much damage and harm. They shipwreck their faith and that of others and don’t care for the sheep that become collateral damage. There is safety in submission, to find your rank in the army, to redecorate your temple the way God shows you, to show wisdom and willingness to yield to God and his servants whom he is using to disciple you and equip you for the work of the ministry.
Understanding your position in Christ sets you up to walk in miracles, signs and wonders. These signs follow those who believe,
Mar 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Mar 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

3. Simplicity
Notice the simplicity of Jesus’ miracles and their astounding power to restore, heal and resurrect the dead:
Mar 3:5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.
Luk 5:24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

Joh 11:43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”
Joh 11:44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Luk 8:52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.”
Luk 8:53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.
Luk 8:54 But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.”

When it comes to miracles, the people that want to make a show of it normally miss it. Keep it simple and do what Jesus did, what the Father shows him, in the context of His church as your covering, led by the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus.
The yoke is easy, and the burden is light when Jesus does the works through your hands, your obedience and your living sacrifice of your life.
Jesus was moved with compassion, so simply put: “when you feel for some deep inside, allow the Spirit to move you into the miraculous solutions that God has for them. Don’t doubt and jump on the horse without any hesitation.
Here the gift of faith and the working of miracles works together. Sometimes God will give you discerning of spirits to cast out an infirmity, sometimes a word of knowledge or a prophetic picture for them that couples with the working of miracles. Simply, the best gift for someone is that one that they need right now.
Timing is essential, so when the light is green – go!
Agreement with people in Jesus’ name unlocks the power and blessing of the Lord in the situation. Jesus sent his disciples two by two, and the world turned upside down, preparing the way for Jesus to come.
Working with a fellow believer to see mountains shift, people set free, deliverance come, and miracles happen is a blessing. Give it a try and testify!
Flow of anointing is important to understand.
“You are only as big as the obstacle that stops your flow of anointing.”
Find a way around, over, under or even through that obstacle with Jesus as your doorway and solution, burden lifter and bondage breaker. Water simply flows around an obstacle or goes over it. Go with the flow of the Spirit!
