God Found a Man

This sermon is based on a book by Bishop Paul Nwachukwu “I sought for a Man Among Them” Apostle Aje Pelser has added some apostolic perspective concerning Church.

Ezekiel22:29,30

The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy; and they wrongfully oppress the stranger.

So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall,and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroyit; but I found no one…"

Remember God spoke through Ezekiel the prophet in an Old Testament context. In other words, while the Old Covenant was in place, there was no one to stand in the gap before God on behalf of the land, but Jesus has come as the Mediator of a better covenant, and He lives to stand in the gap for us!

 To understand why our land needs a Mediator, we should examine signs that reveal the need for Revival. In this move of God, fire is needed to evangelise and stand in the gap for our land.

There is often a complacency and lack of urgency that sets in when people enter their promised land personally, and we tend to forget that others still need to enter, that people are oppressed and tormented by evil, that the world is going to hell in fast forward.

Signs that Revival is needed: (From Bishop Paul’s book.)

1.    Worldliness – 2 Peter 2:20

2.    Lack of Brotherly Love – John 13:35

3.   No hunger for the Word – 2Ti 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

4.    When Churches become social clubs -Judges 17:6;

5.    No Burden for the lost – Matt 24:15;

6.    Unforgiveness – Matt 18:33

7.    Wicked have dominion over therighteous – Psalm 68:1

8.    No fear of God –  Job 28:28

9.    People attack spiritual authority –Numbers 12:3

10. Disorder in homes – Eph 6:1

11. Church Politics –  1 Cor 3:4

If there are any signs like those mentioned above, deal with them prayerfully, repenting before the Lord Who is full grace of grace and mercy and Who will not despise abroken and contrite spirit. Humbling ourselves before the mighty hand of God is part of healing our land and saving souls!

In order to become the MAN God is looking for, there are a few characteristics to embed in our lives:

1.    Make Wall; Stand in the GAP before God on behalf of others – Ezekiel 22:29

2.    Humble yourself; Prayer; Turn from Wicked ways – 2 Chron 7:14
