Genesis 18:18 High and Lofty One
The God of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:1) who had no ancestry. Jesus is the new High Priest of the New Testament according to the order of Melchizedek. Jesus was not from the tribe of Levi or from the line of Aaron who ministered in the Old Tabernacle. Jesus is the First Born from the dead and He is the Head of the Church of the Firstborn. All born again believers become part of that heavenly Church (mentioned in Hebrews 12:22) and therefore all believers now become royal priests that can enter into the holy presence of God like the Old High Priest under the Old Covenant could only do once a year. What a new way of living! Jesus opened up a new way into the holiest of all – for all who will follow in His wake! He lifted us up into a new dimension of living and ministry!
