All things subject to Jesus

Preacher:
Passage: Philippians 3:20-21

Php 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Php 3:21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even tosubdue all things to Himself.
Another way of saying that would be:

“For the fixed commonwealth of which we are citizens has its fixed location in heaven out from which we, with our attention withdrawn from all else, are eagerly waiting to welcome the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, and to receive Him to ourselves, who shall transform this body of ours which has been humiliated [by the presence f indwelling sin and by death and decay ], so that it will be conformed to His body of His glory, this in accordance with the operation of Him is able to bring into subjection to himself all things.” Wuest’s Translation.

Follow Jesus’ Pathway to master all things in His Name
He had the mind of God
He understood his Divine nature
He made Himself of no reputation
He took on the form of a servant
He came in the likeness of men
He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the death of the cross
God therefore highly exalted him
Gave Him the name above all names
But even then the glory still goes to the Father
Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
Php 2:6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
Php 2:7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
Php 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Php 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
Php 2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
Php 2:11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Steps in the pathway to subject all things to Jesus

Our minds are transformed by the renewing of the Word to have the mind of Christ. Romans 12.
We need to understand that we are sons of God through believing in Jesus – our Godly DNA. John 1:12
We too can make ourselves of no reputation
We take on the form of a bondservant for Jesus
We can be all things to all men to save some – the likeness of men
We humble ourselves through becoming obedient to the leading to the Holy Spirit and not loving our lives unto death
God therefore highly exalts us in the spheres He permits
God gives us the name of Jesus to use to unlock His power to bring all things into subjection to Christ Jesus
But even then the glory still goes to the Father

David’s Prophecy about Jesus Christ the Messiah
Psa 110:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
Psa 110:2 The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!
Psa 110:3 Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth.
Psa 110:4 The LORD has sworn And will not relent, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”
Psa 110:5 The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath.
Psa 110:6 He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries.
Psa 110:7 He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; Therefore He shall lift up the head.

Rom 16:19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil.
Rom 16:20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

The Disciples saw the power in the name of Jesus:
Act 3:6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
Act 3:7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
Act 3:8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.
Act 3:16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
Act 16:16 Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.
Act 16:17 This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.”
Act 16:18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour.
