God’s House

Service Type:

God’s House
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser

Structures of God’s House that support the truth of Jesus Christ.
Apostle Paul often wrote to churches; this constitutes a large part of the New Testament. If you summarize his letters, he often begins with a doctrinal teaching, then applies it in practise in the context of the local assembly or church. He then also gives administrative instructions to the people that have taken responsibility and the fivefold ministers, elders and deacons that were appointed to carry on with the work.

Foundational Scripture:
1Ti 3:15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

1. Become a pillar in God’s House.
The church is referred to as: “The living God’s assembly, a pillar and support of the truth.”
Rev_3:12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

2. Let’s remember that Truth is personified in Jesus Christ:
Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
The more we get to know Jesus and his love for His Bride, the Church, the more we are built into God’s house.
Joh 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
Joh 14:2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Joh 14:4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

3. Become a living stone.
What does it mean to be part of God’s House?
1Pe 2:4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,
1Pe 2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
In a quarry in South America, a visitor was shown two stones that looked alike; however, the stone mason showed him the difference. He hit the one rock with a trowel, and it crumbled in pieces. He hit the other rock and metal strike made the stone ring out and it retained its integrity. Living stones emit a sound and can handle pressure.

4. Don’t just visit God’s house, become a member.
Eph 2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Eph 2:19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
Eph 2:20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,
Eph 2:21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,
Eph 2:22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

5. Make a contribution to God’s House.
Eph 4:15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—
Eph 4:16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
It’s easier when we all do our share. As we rise and build the church in all categories, never despise the days of small beginnings. Sometimes it is the last little contribution that ensures we continue. I have had large contributions for the building that gave us tremendous momentum, but here and there we have been short of finishing specific phases, and then someone obeys the Lord and makes a small donation that allows us to pay the builder to complete the phase. You know who you are, thank you for obeying the still small voice inside and doing your share! It all helps, and the timing is what strikes me every time and brings glory to God in His glorious House!

6. We bring our sacrifices to God’s House.
What are the standards we can raise to build God’s house? What type of spiritual sacrifices do we offer?
God’s house is a place where we can operate and work, providing spiritual service and ministry to others, and ensuring God’s house is a haven for weary souls, where we can minister and equip the saints.
Eph 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
Eph 4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

God’s house is a place where we can bring a corporate sacrifice of praise like in the Tabernacle of David, that is being restored in the church. Acts 15:16
Heb 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
Heb 13:16 But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

7. God’s house is an assembly point for accurate teaching.
Act_11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

8. God’s house is a place for appointment of faithful saints who are able to make disciples and teach others.
Act_14:23 So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

9. God’s house is a sending station for missions and the fulfilment of specific divine mandates.
Act_15:3 So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren.
Act_15:4 And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them.

10. God’s house is a safe fold to shepherd the flock of God.
Act_20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

11. God’s House extends to your home if you are part of a church.
Act 20:20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house,

Rom_16:5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia to Christ.

12. Everything converges in God’s house and also emanates from there:
Eph 3:10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,
Eph 3:11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,

The structures of God’s house are worthy of further meditation. Consider your permanent place in his house and start to carry spiritual weight to help and support others. Love is the spiritual cement that keeps us together and Jesus is always the Chief Cornerstone, with apostles and prophets the foundations and plumb line of the building.
Let God glorify the house of His glory!

Isa 60:7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar, And I will glorify the house of My glory.
