You Do All Things Well

Pleasing God by faith enhances our actions
Learn how to do well like Jesus

You Do All Things Well
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town, 15th Dec. 2024

They said this of Jesus when He was healing the sick showing God’s love to humanity: “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”
One morning, I woke up with the words: “You do all things well.” But how can this be? I am painfully aware of my shortcomings. I can concede that there are some areas I feel like I am doing well, but others remain far from perfect. God gently reminds us in His word that without Him we can do nothing, and that we can only please Him by faith. Adding faith to our actions accesses how Jesus did things well and enhances all our efforts with Divine approval.

Jesus does all things Well
Mar_7:37 And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”
Mar_10:52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
Joh_5:14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
Mar_5:34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
2Pe 1:17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Ways that can help us do well like Jesus:
1. Please God by faith
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

2. God wants us to do well too, heed the warning of Cain
Cain: Gen 4:7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

3. Show hospitality – 3Jn 1:6 who have borne witness of your love before the church. If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well,

4. Let God complete every good work in and through you – Heb 13:20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Heb 13:21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

5. Access double honour through ruling well – 1Ti_5:17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.

6. Lead your home well – 1Ti_3:4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence
1Ti_3:12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
1Ti_3:13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

7. Even widows can do well – 1Ti_5:10 well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.
Luk 19:17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’
