ONE in Christ
ONE in Christ
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town
Why is Apostle Paul making a point about being ONE?
He is heading towards this culmination of the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Eph 4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
Eph 4:1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
Eph 4:2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
Eph 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
When you are determining the probability of an event occurring, it is calculated as follows:
Probability formula
The probability formula defines the likelihood of the happening of an event. The formula to calculate the probability of an event is equivalent to the ratio of favorable outcomes to the total number of outcomes. Probabilities always range between 0 and 1. The general probability formula can be expressed as:
Probability = Number of favorable outcomes / Total number of outcomes
or
P(A) = f / N
Where:
• P(A) = Probability of an event (event A) occurring
• f = Number of ways an event can occur (frequency)
• N = Total number of outcomes possible
Consideration: let us investigate the frequency (number of ways we can be ONE) in order to get closer to the Probability P(A) of the Body of Christ becoming ONE, based on this passage we just read.
Ways to become ONE – f- Frequency that makes us ONE:
1. Apostolic Plea to walk worthy of our divine calling. 2 Thess. 1:11,12
2. Operating in Lowliness. Phil. 2:1-11
3. Operating in gentleness. Jesus’ meekness and humility standard. Matt. 11:29.30
4. Applying the fruit of long suffering. Gal. 5:22; 1 Cor. 13:4
5. Operating in Love that allows us to bear with one another. Gal. 6:2
6. Endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit.
7. Applying the bond of peace.
This leads us towards the Total number of outcomes N:
1. One body
2. One Spirit
3. One hope of your calling
4. One Lord
5. One faith
6. One Baptism
7. One God and Father of all – above all, through all, and in you all.
Let’s check our equation:
P(A) = f / N
P(A) probability of unity of the Spirit = f – 7 points of frequency / N – 7 number of outcomes constituting that Unity
1=7/7 which is: TRUE!
