Signs of the Indwelling Word
Signs of the Indwelling Word
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser
Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town, 1stJune 2025
Here are some signs that the Word of Christ dwells in you richly and with all wisdom:
Scripture:
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Col 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
You honour the Word as God
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
You show His life and Light
Joh 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
You Keep Jesus’ Word and God is at home with us
Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
You reveal God’s wisdom in daily life
Jas 3:14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
Jas 3:15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
Jas 3:16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
Jas 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
You continue to Teach one another:
Every move of God has it’s sound. We are recording new songs and releasing new music for this time. Some songs stand the test of time and become hymns and anthems for generations of faith. We have a whole song book of original songs based on apostolic doctrine and prophetic insight into the new covenant called songs of Harvest.
Our songs in this church are sourced from present revealed truth about God’s word for today. Many scriptures are woven into our lyrics and the teachings of Christ infuse our spiritual songs too. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and also prophetic worship and singing. We also add the dimension of dancing like David. For more about worship in the tabernacle of David refer to our MBTC subjects on Worship and the book of Psalms where we discuss Hebrew parallelism in poetry and the different Hebrew and Greek words of Praise and worship in the Bible.
You Admonish one another
To admonish means to: “to caution or reprove gently: – admonish, warn.” Strong’s Concordance G3560 noutheteō pronounced: “noo-thet-eh’-o”
You sing a new song:
Sing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Grace taps into unmerited favour and understands God is above all and has the power to bring about the changes we need in our lives.
Psalms refer to spiritual prayers set to music. “a sacred ode (accompanied with the voice, harp or other instrument”
Hymns are anthems that exalt and boast of God
Spiritual Songs reveal the heart of God by His spirit song from the depths of our spirit. Deep calling unto deep…
You apply what you have learnt:
• Next time you feel a song in your heart sing it!
• Think about the worship services on Sundays and hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. Write down a few phrases or prophetic images that you saw in worship and ask the Holy Spirit’s help to apply it in your life.
• Mention some of the applications and revelation at your next harvester household meeting.
