The Worship Assembly of the Local Church
The Worship Assembly of the Local Church
By Apostle Aje Pelser
From The revelation 1:1-3
A revelation possessed by Jesus Christ, which God [the Father] gave to him for the purpose of making known to his bondslaves things which in the nature of the case necessarily must come to pass in their entirety shortly.
And he made them known, having sent them through the agency of His messenger (Angel) to His bondslave John, who is now declaring [in writing] the word of God and the testimony given by Jesus Christ, as many things as he saw.
Spiritually prosperous is he who reads in the worship assembly of the local church and spiritually prosperous are those who hear the words of this prophecy and observe the things which in it have been written and are on record, for the strategic, epochal season is imminent.
Revelations of Jesus revealed in a local church.
1. The flow of revelation. God the Father gave Jesus revelation, that He can make it known to His bondslaves, who then contact the messengers of the local churches. We see the word messenger and angel being used for this passage in different versions of the Bible. But angels are definitely involved in delivering messages about crucial points in history. We see it in Daniel, Mary and Joseph, Paul’s missions and many other instances. Romans 10:14,15 also gives us a flow chart of revelation, from the point of God sending people to preach so that we can hear, faith rise in our hearts, then we can call on the name of the Lord and be saved.
2. Spiritual prosperity. It affects your entire being: spirit, soul and body. It’s like a cascading collection of pots that overflow to another level and onwards to a third and finally spilling out, causing a river of water all around to those in the vicinity. We need to minister from the overflow of His living waters in our lives. If you hunger and thirst for righteousness, you will be filled. Matt. 5:6 and
John 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
3. Have you ever tried to watch a movie and end up switching it off because it is just such rubbish? The things of the world never satisfy completely, there is always something lacking. It’s never quite enough to fill your soul, pacify your mind, and meet your need for fellowship. That which the world is looking for, is found in Jesus Christ and His Body: the worship assembly of the local church.
Yes, the church is an assembly of worship. We received visions and dreams about the new church – but it also included a spiritual snapshot about what God is doing across the globe through this ministry. The stage is wide. There are many singers and leaders in righteous robes, a vast assembly of friends old and new and some who have returned. Pastor Sam shared this dream with us last week and it really encouraged me.
4. Public reading of the Word, preaching and teaching. One of the action words God has given us for the year is to ‘read.’ Reading the Bible is one of the best habits. You can do it like this – work through the scriptures in Sunday’s sermons and read around the scripture before Wednesday evening Household. When you get together, share what revelation you have received and how the understanding of the scripture has grown. Pray for the implementation of that scriptural principle in your life and testify about it.
Share it with your family and friends and people that cross your path. Once you have completed a cycle like that, you can move onto another set of scriptures.
5. Hearing and Observing (doing) the Word. James 1:22
It is like the bread that multiplied in the hands of the disciples. Luke 9:10-17. It is important to say Amen when you hear a truth form God’s word. But you need a Holy Spirit action plan to make sure you live it out! That is where meditation and revelation kicks in and often we need to just get quiet before God and let the Holy Spirit show you things to come in order to observe to do according to what is written in the Word, like Joshua 1:8 teaches us to do.
6. Miracles happen in the observance of Jesus’ words and commands. Mar 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
7. Jesus’ strategies are revealed through the local church. His plans are universal and global but they are implemented through local manifestations of his body the church. The place where you fulfil God’s strategy for your life is in the sphere of the church:
“spiritually prosperous are those who hear the words of this prophecy and observe the things which in it have been written and are on record, for the strategic, epochal season is imminent.”
Having considered the flow of revelation and Jesus’ love for the church His Bride, we can summarize:
God’s strategic field of dreams for you is in the orbits and galaxies of His church, where all things are centred on Christ Jesus, based on the foundations laid by His apostles and prophets who preach and teach the principles of the kingdom, supported by the angelic forces and hosts of heaven, and share it with the messengers of the churches, who take it further and multiply the revelation throughout the membership of the local body, causing signs and wonders to follow the preaching and believing upon the Word.
Eph 3:10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,
“Spiritually prosperous is he who reads in the worship assembly of the local church and spiritually prosperous are those who hear the words of this prophecy and observe the things which in it have been written”
The fact that we are called a worship assembly reminds us of the tabernacle of David. A man who was always after God’s own heart. That heart resonates with God and picks up his wavelengths to fulfil in the earth. Welcome to Church!
