Surrounded by waves let us consider their origin and the tremendous power inherent in this beautiful expression of God’s creation.
When waves are compared to the powerful spiritual force of love, one learns a few valuable lessons about the powerful wave of love.1. Origin of Waves
Waves are swells created by the turbulent fluctuations of wind on the surface of the sea.
The surface becomes bumpy and the surface tension of the water tries to restore the flat surface.
This agitated surface then affects the flow of air over the water – causing more turbulent fluctuations which cause the whole process to repeat.
The following wind adds more energy to the waves making them grow and gravity starts to add to the effect.
Similarly, life often presents stormy winds that agitate and challenge us.
Instead of asking why, allow those situations to create a greater wave of love.
We learn in the Bible that Love:
Suffers long (patient); is Kind; does not Envy; does not Parade itself; is not Puffed up; does not behave Rudely; does not seek its Own; is not Provoked; thinks no Evil; does not rejoice in Iniquity but in Truth; Bears all things; Believes all things; Hopes all things; Endures all things; love Never Fails. Read 1 Cor. 13
2. Waves to Surf
Surfable waves are generated by such ocean swells reaching shallower water, causing them to slow down. The wavelength is shortened and the wave height then rises.
Waves then jack forward as the depth suddenly changes, the top of the wave begins to overtake the bottom of the wave.
As we are confronted with the issues of life, especially in marriage and relationships in general, allow love to rise to the occasion, just as waves rise to meet the coastline.
“And now abide faith, hope and love, these three, but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Cor. 13:13
The greater the challenge presented to you, the more God’s wave of love will rise to the challenge, and wash over our differences.
3. Types of Waves
A gently sloping wave often creates a crumbling, mushy type of wave that breaks slowly.
A steep slope or reef, will form a hollow pitching wave in shallower water.
These waves are surfed by experienced surfers only, but once taken, the feeling produced is a rush of life never forgotten. Rip Curl says: “Only a surfer knows the feeling…”
Don’t be afraid of the risks of life long commitment. Surf the wave together and experience the exhilaration of life.
Remember to allow the powerful wave of love to thrust you forward in your relationship with God and each other.
1 John 4:16.
Remember that if you walk in love, you walk in God – God is love and that’s why love never fails. Surf God’s wave of love and succeed in this life. God’s love was so powerful that He gave His only begotten son for You and Me, so that if we believe in Jesus, we should not fail and perish but have everlasting life.
His wave of love is coming for you, are you ready to surf it?
Those of you who need God’s love need merely take that wave and ride it to eternity.
For our blessed couple getting married, our prayer is that they will enjoy the ride of their life on this powerful wave of God’s Love, and their precious love for each other today.
