The Peerless Man
By Apostle Andre, New Year's Sermon.
Considerations that make Jesus unique
Philippians 2:5-10
- He came according to prophecy
- He lived a perfect life
- He spoke healing and life giving words
- He had a single purpose
- He had many followers
Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord!
Jesus emerged out of total obscurity, that’s why people remarked, ‘where did this man get this power and authority? What wisdom is this that was given to him? Is not this the carpenter’s son and the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses and Juda and Simon? Are his sisters not with us?
They were so offended at Jesus doing such mighty works.
(Mat 6:2,3)
Even his own brothers and sisters who lived with him for 30 years had seen nothing unusually remarkable about him.
And yet in 3 year’s time the impact of His ministry made him the hope of millions! His words were carefully collected and written down by four Gospel writers.
Though hated by his enemies, the religious leaders of his time, he so captivated the hearts of multitudes that many considered it a supreme honour to die for him.
What made him so different?
He’s the star of astrology
The rock of geology
The lion of zoology
The revealer of snares in the dark
The restorer of the penitent
The quickener of all that is mortal
The adorner of all that lacks beauty
He put on humanity that we might discover divinity
He became poor that we might be enriched
He was made to be sin, so that we can be the righteousness of God
In infancy he startled a king
In childhood he puzzled doctors
In manhood he ruled over nature
He is the Saviour of the world
The healer of the oppressed
Herod could not kill him
Satan could not seduce him
Death could not destroy him
The grave could not hold him
He never wrote a book or a song
He never founded a college or built a church
He came to deal with our wrong being, not our wrong doing
He came to destroy the works of the devil (I John 3:8)
He relied on no other weapon than the truth
He is the way, the truth and the life
No man comes to the Father, but by Him
There is no other name in heaven or earth through which we can be saved, but the name of Jesus. To those who believe in him and accept him, he gives the power to become children of the Living God.
He is the Lord of lords, the king of kings, the lily of the valley, the rose of Sharon, the bright and morning star and the fairest of ten thousand!
He is our soon coming King
He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother
