Supply Line: Family Business

Harvester Reformational Church equips the saints for the work of the ministry. Part of the perfection of the saints is giving them the tools and the training generate wealth to establish God's Covenant on the earth. The manual 'Supply Line' is a collection of teachings on Tithes and Offerings with financial principles that will ensure that you tap into God's Supply Line that never runs dry!

(Teacher Anton De Gruchy recently gave an expository teaching on the word 'Equipping' – useful for five fold ministers. Tapes available from mbc@harvesterchurch.org.za R12 plus postage. 'Supply Line Manual' is available as a Correspondence course through Miracle Bible College, R125: includes manual; assignment; exam and memorandum.)

Family business
II Kings 4:2-3
2 'So Elisha said to her, 'What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?' And she said, 'Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.'
3 Then he said, 'Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors-empty vessels; do not gather just a few.'

The woman had nothing but a jar of oil. Then Elisha said to her: Go and borrow empty vessels from everywhere – not just a few. God not only wants to take care of our needs, but He also wants to take care of our future!

God wants to raise up family business. Businesses where people will stand together as a family. But we need to use what we have. Go and humble yourself – go and borrow vessels! Fill these vessels with knowledge, wisdom, the Holy Spirit and with experience. Make up your mind, use what you have, get some help – borrow vessels.

The problem is we are too scared to trust God. There is a blessing when people work together in unity. Christians tend to live so independent, not realizing we are a family. If Christians stand together, we will be powerful – we have the same purpose.
There is no such thing than a Christian restaurant or business – no gentiles will come to a Christian business. The wealth of gentiles will come over to the just. Then you spread it into your family. There is no reason why we should lack.
What is your jar of oil? What is there that you can do? Play violen, clean pools, take that, borrow clients, opportunities… Let God show you what to give. Do what your hand finds to do. Let God develop that. There is effort in God: there is no increase without the strength of an ox.

4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
Prov 14:4 (KJV)

You work hard and God blesses. Remember, you need rest – it is not the more you work, the more you'll earn.
God wants to bless family businesses so it can continue for generations to come. Your children’s future is in what you are doing. Once a family has decided to work for God, it should continue. God needs one tribe out of twelve to do His work.

Make up your mind to meditate on the Word of God – to observe what to do. What is important is how practical you live, not how much you pray and well you know the Word of God.

Joshua 1:8-9
'This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.'

God’s given you talents – develop them, think clearly. Give yourself at least 18 months. If it is a hobby, let it stay a hobby still it exceeds your salary – then do it full-time. Faith is substance. The word says men shall give into your bosoms.

We live to obey God. Through Harvester we have blessed thousands of people. God wants to bless you, He wants you to use what you have. Don’t be lazy, don't be embarrassed to borrow.
God is saying to us, 'What shall I do for you?' Our bodies are the house of the Holy Spirit. What is in us? The woman had nothing but a jar of oil – she was desperate!
Church is a spiritual feeding please, not a charity organization. If you look at the wrong source, you look at the wrong supply. God is ready to take care of your future!
Today, our sons are too proud to go into the dad's businesses. God made families so He could bless them and their grand children!
See the whole future is taken care of. If God will take care of you for eternity, will He not surely take care of you in this short life?
We need to know what God will do and what we have.
Make a short list of your family resources and talents. Discuss how you can work together so that every part does its share and pray a prayer of consecration over your plans. As suggested, let it be a hobby at first, don't place too much pressure on the business initially, allow it to grow naturally. Keep your existing jobs and don't slack in your work or attitude towards the work that brings in regular finances. If you are faithful in another man's business, God will appoint you over more.
