Why are so many believers defeated even though they read the word of God and pray and go to church? They have not been anointed with the oil of joy! You qualify for this special anointing by believing in Jesus. The anointing with the oil of joy releases a taste for the spiritual things and an appetite for doing right and staying right with God and it breaks the yoke of friendship with wickedness.Anointed with Joy!

I entered another realm of exitstence, another world in which righteousness dwell ? in a dream. I felt what it would be like if everything was done according to God;s design! I saw some people I know and some I did not know and everyone worked together in harmony. There was no envy or strife, no harsh words or rebuke, there was peace and joy and everyone seemed to be sure of themselves. There was a godly serenity about the people. As they went about their business they were confident that they would succeed and that everyone would play their part well. It seemed as if we were rehearsing a play. Dan was also in the play. The entire new world had no sin or unrighteousness in it. There was no room for evil or wickedness. I did not see any angels or heavenly beings, just a new earth with people who were justified by faith and whose spirits had been made perfect. It was a wonderful company of people! When I woke up I desired to go back there again. The next night this dream continued. God is showing us that there is a new earth in which righteousness will reign and where He will rule as the King of kings and the Lord of lords and that we will reign with Him ? forever!

When I woke up this morning I heard these words echoing in my spirit: ?You have uncovered one of the ancient pathways, you have pioneered a way in the spirit that will open up the path to righteousness for those who would believe your words.? I realized that what I had been going through during the past year was yet another commission to pioneer an ancient pathway in the spirit for the sake of the body of Christ. Everything we go through, all the suffering, persecution and hardship we have to endure, is for the sake of the body of Christ. We share in his suffering and we are made conformable to his death in order to share in his glory. The glory always outweighs the suffering!

The Hebrew word for ancient is ?yashish? and it means very old and very wise. The ancient of days refers to the all-wise God. In Greek we have the word ?presbuteros? that refers to the elders in the church.

In order to walk in this ancient pathway we have to follow the signs! The pathway to the oil of joy is described in Psalm 45:7. This is the path we have pioneered that will bring victory and joy in believers.

Psalm 45:7
7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

The root word for ?fellow? in Hebrew is ?chaber?. It speaks of the use of magic charms to unite, make an alliance or be in league with someone. Fellows refer to companions, fellow worshippers or people one is united with.
To experience the anointing of joy and gladness there are three pre-requisites: (1) You have to love righteousness and (2) hate wickedness like David and Jesus did. (3) You also need companionship or fellowship. Then you will receive the anointing of joy like you have never had before!

To hate means not to associate or befriend, to be an enemy of; to love (?ahab?) is to befriend and to associate and also to have an appetite for something. Only God can induce a spiritual appetite for righteousness in a person and help you to become an enemy of wickedness. Wickedness is ?resha? in Hebrew and explains crime against civil law, religious principles or ethical relations. You need to choose your companions carefully too: friendship with evil friends lead to your destruction, but fellowship with people who love God leads to life and godliness. Whether we like it or not, we are easily influenced by other people. We need to make up our minds today that we are going to love righteousness and hate wickedness and choose friends who try to please God.

Righteousness is ?tsedeq?. There are six levels of righteousness. The first level indicates vindication and the second justification. When God vindicates us because we believe in His Son Jesus Christ He also justifies us from all controversy against us. The third level of righteousness is a form of deliverance and the fourth level brings victory because once we are delivered and tasted what victory over sin and sickness and wickedness is like, we begin to see all the traps of the enemy set to harm and destroy us. The fifth level of righteousness is godly prosperity that adds no sorrow to it. The sixth level and central core of righteousness reflects our ?at-one-ment? or atonement and reconciliation with a covenant keeping God and reminds us of our covenantal rights as children in the Household of Faith.

Discovering the inner layers of righteousness should give us enough motivation to desire right standing with God and to avoid evil associations that take us away from our heavenly Father?s love and care. Every time we deliberately choose evil we open the door to the destroyer. He attacks at a moment?s notice. By walking in the right spirit and in faith from a pure heart, we leave no room for the enemy of our souls. The devil tries to tell you that living a holy life is boring and lonely, but what he does not tell you is that he is out to steal, kill and destroy you! Whatever he offers is deceitful and his strategy is to make you hate God, stop believing in Jesus Christ and to give yourself over to the lusts that rule the world: the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. Then he can make mincemeat out of you! He will put you into his grinder until you are torn to shreds! He will tear up your emotions, destroy your conscience, confuse your mind and break your peace and destroy your joy. He starts off by whispering to you that God is not fair, that God is unjust and that God does not really love you or care for you. When he can get you to doubt the goodness of God he will encourage you to walk away from God and into his arms. The god of this world rocks the people of the world fast asleep in his lap so that they cannot hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:4
4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Rock and roll to the devil?s music and you are being put to sleep by him. He blinds your eyes. He makes you dumb in the spiritual realm. He blocks your spiritual ears so that you cannot even hear the warnings of the Holy Spirit any longer. Your spiritual perception or feelings that help you discern between good and evil get numbed by the devil and you begin to consciously choose the wrong things. You begin to prefer evil and wickedness and start giving yourself a license to sin. James Bondage brings with him a license to sin!

You start toying with sin just like Samson did and the devil gets closer and closer to your secret source of strength: your core level of righteousness: your covenant with an almighty God! Samson?s hair simply indicated his covenant with God as a Nazarene because Jesus would one day be called a Nazarene. His strength did not lie in his hair but in his covenant with God. Once the covenant was broken he had no strength to defeat the enemy any more. His name, ?Samson?, means, shining like the sun ? but the Philistines eventually gauged his eyes out so that he lived in darkness.
