Learn the secret power of contentment
If you want to learn something you obviously have a reason to make the effort. If you want to learn a foreign language you obviously hope to speak it and perhaps go to that country some time. To learn a trade you hope to make some money from it. To learn contentment must ipso facto also have a purpose behind it.
But because most spiritual concepts are hard to grasp we mostly dismiss them as meaningless and see them as a waste of time. That is why Jesus mostly taught in parables – to give pictures for spiritual truths.
Contentment is a great spiritual truth and harbours great blessings for those who will take the time to learn and understand it. Perhpas this teaching will open the way for someone into the secret power of contentment.Learn to be content

Contentment is not a popular word in a material world. When sinful desires conceive they bring forth death. It is hard to satisfy the human desire at all times. Psalm 14:1
?There is no God.?
The New King James Version
Romans 3:23 confirms David?s account of the nature of man:
Romans 3:23
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Once you are born again you begin to partake of the divine nature of God through the great and precious promises, you are intrinsically good because Christ lives in you, the hope of glory.
Romans 12:2
Part of the will of God for us is to learn contentment and gratitude: two characteristics most human beings do not reveal in their daily routines. Learning to be content is a process devoid of human ego. Self knows what self wants and self gets what self wants. The spirit is wounded and no one can cure a wounded spirit except the father of our spirits, through His Son Jesus Christ who was anointed to heal the broken hearted. Discontentment is a human disorder.
Paul declares that he had to learn to be content. This teaching is contrary to most Charismatic faith teachings that only highlight prosperity all the time. Here is the key: we need to become willing to learn contentment first ? then we have to learn to accept what God allows in our lives at certain times and find our contentment in knowing Him rather than in our circumstances. A man?s life does not consist of the things he possesses or does not possess. The Scriptural definition of Eternal Life is: knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent.
Learn: Strongs 4129: manthano comes from matheo which simply means to learn and understand. Contentment has five variants that give understanding to the learner:
Autarkes: self-complacent
The root words point to death and punishment. The ego and the sinful and selfish life are destroyed through contentment!
Koinonia: partnership
Pantote: at all times, everywhere
The root word pas is the same root for the word Pascha or Passover Feast! When we learn to be content it is almost like having a feast all the time! The blood of Jesus Christ that marks our lives as believers makes the warring angels pass over us because of our contentment to rely on Christ in every circumstance we face!
Sumpempo: dispatch
The apostolic mission of being sent by God comes into focus as we learn to be content. The times that are set to teach us contentment are rest periods in between the commissions. Although it might seem inactive God is still active producing the life of Christ in us! Contentment aught to become our starting point in any circumstance. If you have to wait for a bus you can do nothing but wait. While we wait for the promises of God, there is no better way than to be content. Otherwise we frustrate the grace of God in our lives. Christian Brother and Sister: do you want to accompany God, walk with God, talk with God, be moved by Him and be led by His Spirit? Then learn to wait at the bus stop of the Holy Spirit: it is the terminus ad quiem: the place of Contentment.
To abide in Christ is the key to contentment. It is a learning curve in every believer?s life: learn to be content! Through understanding contentment it will be established in your life.
Godliness with contentment is great gain. How many people can learn to be content with food and clothing? The desire for riches chokes the word of God and breaks the barrier of contentment. Instead of waiting for God to launch you, you devise your own destiny and run ahead of God to your own harm. Contentment does not mean you have nothing. Let us pray and ask God to teach us contentment.
