God’s promises to us

Passage: Isaiah 54:11-14
Service Type:

Isaiah 54:11-14
This passage explains God’s eternal covenant of the sure mercies of David in a way that provides great encouragements.

‘O you afflicted one tossed with tempest and not comforted, behold I will lay your stones with colourful gems and your foundations with sapphires.
I will make your pinnacles of rubies and your gates of crystal and all your walls precious stones.
All your children shall be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children.
In righteousness you shall be established you shall be far from oppression for you shall not fear and from terror for it shall not come near you
Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.’

We are in the line of David because we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of David. These promises are given to us.

I do not know what affliction you are going through or what storm you are facing, but these words should build you up on your most holy faith and give you courage to keep on believing and trusting God to take you through.

A foundation of a house is not normally something people admire because rubbish is thrown into the foundation. But God says He will make your foundation special. The Word of God is your special foundation. What people cannot see is precious to God. You are His special treasure.

A promise to our children is very special. The Lord will personally teach them. You cannot always be with your children at school or at play, but the Lord will teach them by His Holy Spirit. What a wonderful promise. And when they become adults, He will continue to teach them! That is why they will have peace. Money cannot purchase peace, only the Prince of Peace can give peace.

God will make sure you are established in the right way. You do not have to fear for oppression and terror will be far from you. Nothing will happen to you without the Lord’s permission.

And those that assemble against you will fall for your sake. Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against evil spirits that inspire people to come against you, slander you to do you harm. But the Lord will defend you.
May these few words comfort you like a mother comforts her children. God puts His loving arms around you and tells you that you are His precious possession.
