God says I Love You
God says: “I Love You.”
By Apostle Aje Pelser, preached at Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town, 30th June 2013
The Lord said to me very clearly: “Tell people that I Love them”
I have sermons that I want to preach about God and His Church and about the work He has called us to do but the main thing for Him is still that He loves us! Wonderful Father God!
Here are some confirmations that God loves you.
1. He sent His Son
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Have you ever wondered why God loves this world that often goes through centuries without offering Him the praises due to Him accompanied with the reverence due to the Almighty God? The key to unlock the revelation about His love for His creation is to think like a creator. I have paintings that I have sold that I would buy back if I could. Because I created those works of art, and stared at them in different light and added layer upon layer over time, the work of art become a masterpiece that reflects a part of who I am as an artist. Well you are God’s masterpiece and He has made you and bought you back at a price – with the blood of Jesus – you are twice His work of Art!
2. He poured out His Love by His Spirit
Romans 5:5 “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Sometimes we go through various trials of our faith but we can understand the process of God in your life. He allows us to face things to develop perseverance in our lives, and that builds character. We are actually developing the character of Christ that is shaped through the pressures of life. God is removing the unnecessary things that prevent Christ being formed within us. Once we realize this there is a sense of relief that God is with us through it all and our hope grows for the future. That hope acts as an anchor for our soul – our emotions and thoughts concerning God’s process in our lives and our confident trust is in God Our Father who also gave us His Spirit as a guarantee – we know deep within that Our Father Loves us and His Spirit keeps pouring out that love into hearts throughout the process that Jesus authorizes and develops until the process is finished!
3. He shows us how to keep ourselves in His Love
Jude 1:20,21 “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
By the Holy Spirit fills us, we can look for God’s mercy in every situation, not only for ourselves but also for others. But when it comes to our own personal lives, realize that He has an abundance of mercy for us as we boldly approach His throne of grace to find mercy to help us in our time of need. We are realizing that that is also the place to find mercy for others. The concept of forgiving others to find personal forgiveness is what Jesus taught.
Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
4. His Love never fails in our lives
With Amplified Version of the Bible to help with definitions of the attributes of love
1Corinthians 13:4 -8 “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy (does not boil over with jealousy); love does not parade (or display) itself, is not puffed up (vainglorious or boastful); does not behave rudely (unmannerly), does not seek its own (insist on its own rights or way), is not provoked (touchy, fretful or resentful), thinks no evil (takes no account of the evil done to it); does not rejoice in iniquity (injustice & unrighteousness), but rejoices in the truth (when truth prevails); bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails (never ends). See also 1 John 4:8 – God is love!”
Because His love never ends it will endure all things and that attribute of love makes it invincible. God is love and He abides with those who keep His word and His commandments, who love God, and their neighbour as themselves. God is love and Love never fails. His Holy Spirit in us cultivates that love over time and for that reason we will never fail!
5. While we were sinners Christ died for us
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
It is not our performance that made God love us – remember that He made us and that we belonged to Him in the first place and he takes the first step. All we have to do is to respond to that love by believing in Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross and continuing in that love of God, in Christ Jesus, sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise that is the guarantee of the purchased possession for our final redemption.
