Right Hand of Fellowship

Passage: Acts 2:42-47
Service Type:

Fellowship
Part of the Become a Harvester Series, Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser. HRC Cape Town, May 26

The following associations of fellowship will secure you as part of a church of Harvesters with Jesus!
Scripture:
Act 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Act 2:43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
Act 2:44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,
Act 2:45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
Act 2:46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
Act 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Fellowship is an intentional association with a community.
G2842 koinōnia Thayer Definition:
(One of my personal favourite bands was Koinonia – many of whom were born again believers.)

1) fellowship, association, community, communion, joint participation,
1a) the share which one has in anything, participation
1b) social intercourse, fellowship, intimacy
1b1) the right hand as a sign and pledge of fellowship (in fulfilling the apostolic office)
1c) a gift jointly contributed, a collection, a contribution, as exhibiting an embodiment and proof of fellowship

The root of Fellowship in Ministry means Partnering
G2844 koinōnos
koy-no-nos’
From G2839; a sharer, that is, associate: – companion, X fellowship, partaker, partner.

Divine Fellowship is a concept my dad always explained. Two fellows in a ship going in the same direction! We have a fleet of ships voyaging together – we are so blessed to have long term partners in ministry.

We also have fellowship with His suffering and by association with His glory.
The root word for fellowship is used in the scripture referring to partaking in His suffering and His glory:
1Pe 4:13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
1Pe 4:14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

Corporate Fellowship cleanses us through His Blood
Belonging to an accurate body of believers, a church, helps the blood of Jesus to flow between us and cleanse us from sin. Christians have often sought personal cleansing neglecting the most powerful cleansing of all, the blood of Jesus that flows through His body the Church. His is a revelation that helps us realize that it through abiding in Christ that we bear fruit. This abiding is not something we can do alone, we need other believers to help us in this walk of faith.
Walking in the light as He is in the light, partaking in the Lord’s supper sets up fellowship in a body of believers.
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
When we have communion together, His blood flows and we have fellowship in His cleansing. It is both individual and corporate and it preserves the unity of the faith and spirit.

We have fellowship with the light and no longer with darkness
We can’t have fellowship with light and darkness at the same time. One will win. Decide.
Fellowship of the mystery is another level of revelation – there is a great cloud of witnesses and legacy of faith that we fellowship with and access through The Church of the Firstborn registered in heaven.
2Co 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

We can receive the Right Hand of Divine Fellowship
Gal 2:9 and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

Rev 1:16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.
Rev 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.
Angel of Church has two meanings here:
G32 aggelos ‘angel’
Thayer Definition:
1) a messenger, envoy, one who is sent, an angel, a messenger from God
Same word for messenger used concerning John the Baptist:
Luk 7:27 This is he of whom it is written: ‘BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER BEFORE YOUR FACE, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.’
Jesus walks through the candlesticks which refers to churches. The stars are in His right hand – the messengers of those churches – He determines our fellowship in terms of ministry. We sometimes try to pursue relationships in church work, but in the end the Lord determines who are in His right hand for us to relate to for a time. Prophet Chantal Pelser saw a vision of a vineyard – Our Father is the Vinedresser.

Jesus is seated at the right hand of God – we are seated with Him in that fellowship of authority
Heb_8:1 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
Heb_10:12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,
Heb 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Act_7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,
Right hand in miracles:
Luk_6:6 Now it happened on another Sabbath, also, that He entered the synagogue and taught. And a man was there whose right hand was withered.
Act_3:7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
Mat_27:29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

The Coming of the Lord Jesus:
Mat_25:33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat_25:34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Mat_26:64 Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Fellowship of the Mystery of the Church
Eph 3:9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;
Eph 3:10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,

We seek Fellowship of the Spirit
Php 2:1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,
Php 2:2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

For Harvester Households: Quick personal application
• I commit to a community on purpose: I choose a local church/body and show up consistently (not only when convenient).
• I stay teachable: I continue steadfastly in apostolic doctrine by taking notes, reviewing the Word, and aligning my choices with what is preached (Acts 2:42).
• I practice shared spiritual rhythms: I prioritize gathered prayer, worship, and breaking of bread/communion with others—not as a solo habit only.
• I partner, not just attend: I treat fellowship as “being in the same ship” (same direction, same mission) and I look for practical ways to serve.
• I protect unity: I pursue one accord—quick forgiveness, no gossip, and intentional reconciliation when there is friction (Php 2:1–2).
• I choose light over darkness: I identify any area where I’m “double-associated” and make a clean decision to walk in the light (1 Jn 1:7).
• I receive cleansing corporately: When I feel stuck in sin or heaviness, I don’t isolate; I lean into fellowship and communion where the blood cleanses and preserves unity.
• I honor spiritual covering and commissioning: I value the “right hand of fellowship” by recognizing, submitting to, and partnering with God-given leaders and assignments (Gal 2:9).
• I steward authority with humility: I remember Jesus’ right-hand authority and live responsibly—using my words and actions to build the church, not myself.
• I stay aware of the bigger story: I pursue “fellowship of the mystery” by engaging the church’s calling and legacy (Eph 3:9–10), asking: “How does my life advance God’s manifold wisdom?”
• My weekly check-in: Who did I strengthen? Who strengthened me? Where did I withdraw? What one step restores connection this week? How did I connect with my local Harvester Household community?
