Strength Equal to the Task
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town.
We have a great commission to fulfil to make disciples of Christ Jesus from all nations. TO Love God and mankind like Jesus loves. The tasks we have generated out of this mandate may seem overwhelming, while we are also building our families and business. But God says to you today: “I have given you strength equal to the task.”
We need to understand the following sources to release his strength into our lives:
1. Set God as your Source
Strength comes from the Lord. He is your source. The joy of the Lord is your strength – not your joy, or joy in your situation, or having things, it is the joy of the Holy Spirit.
Tap into he joy of the Lord – Jesus did that in the most uncomfortable position possible – He endured the cross for the joy set before Him/
What has God set before you?
See I have set before you a table in the presence of your enemies, you shall feast at my table, dwell in my house and your cup shall overflow. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life.
Pray this prayer:
God I repent of placing my faith in any other source but you for my life. I place my eyes on You and I endure for the joy you have set before me. Holy Spirit, I focus on the God of hope who fills me with joy and peace in believing. The joy of the Lord is my strength! I rejoice in the Lord always! Again I say: “rejoice!’
2. Position yourself at the Source
Isa 40:31 “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. While waiting on the Lord earlier this year, I received this: “limited form, boundless energy.” In ministry I have learnt to flow with the anointing that breaks the yoke of any task, making it seem easy. If anyone else tries it, it will be hard and heavy – that is what the Spirit of the Lord can do for you.
Operate in the anointing and the yoke cracks! The heaviness of the task lifts and you start to enjoy the challenge in the strength of the Lord.
There is a wonderful song about God being your hiding place, and some of the words come up: “you are my hiding place, you always fill my heart with songs of deliverance “and: “I will trust in You… Let the weak say I am strong, in the strength of the Lord.”
Let the Holy Spirit sing you strong today! Sing along and see what happens to your impossibilities.
We are cut from a different cloth – we are sons and daughters of the Highest God Almighty, don’t let the world make you forget your identity in Christ Jesus. Constantly remind yourself who you are in the spiritual realm, and your mind, will and emotions will catch up with your physical body and circumstances.
3. Source your tasks accurately
Even the Source of your Task is the Lord:
“God found in David, a man after his own heart, who would do all his will.” Acts 13:22
What is God’s good, acceptable and perfect will for your life?
If you work for an employer, you need to understand their vision and passion for the business. If you try to understand what they value, it will help you make the micro decisions to ensure the macro growth in your company.
In a ministry – we are fulfilling a mandate God has given us corporately. When you understand the big picture, God helps you in the smaller tasks. But here is the key, the will of God is infused in the smallest of menial acts of service and reveals Christ Jesus. When you put together all the little things we do, and you zoom out, you see the greater works of Jesus that He spoke about. That is the glory of a many-membered local church reflecting Christ.
If you seek after God’s heart on any topic in life, you will find it. The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you into all truth and like Jesus, you will do what the Father shows you. This is a journey of discovery versus an immediate download.
God desires a relationship with us, and the tasks we are presented are tools in His hand to lead us into a deeper relationship with Him. If we can figure out God is our Father and He wants to spend more time with us, the tasks become easier and, with respect to almighty God, we get an opportunity to ‘hang out’ together more like a family should!
My own father drove us to schools versus placing us in the boarding school. He did this for thirty-two years because we were spaced out in years – I am six years older than my sister and seventeen year the senior of my brother. But my dad decided to spend time with us in the car and teach us a scripture verse in the morning on the way to school. That was when I learnt the ‘Our Father,’ on the way to COC primary at 322 Wecker Rd, Carindale. The church there is now called CitiPointe.
