Doing God’s will

Doing God’s will

Preached by Apostle Andre Pelser

Jesus spoke with authority because He knew He was doing God’s will. Jesus was a man aligned with the will of God. When Nicodemus came to Him at night and made beautiful and impressive speeches, Jesus cut to the core and told him, ‘you must be born again!’

Philippians 2:13: For it is God at work within you both to will and to work according to His good pleasure.

God creates a desire in you to do His will.

Other people can stop us temporarily and but only we can stop ourselves permanently from doing God’s will. Many people want to do something for God but are not willing to pay the price.

Just this week someone’s lifelong friend cut off from them because they found out they are associated with Harvester International Ministries! They said it is a cult and a false religion! They sacrificed that friendship to stay part of this ministry!

The effectual prayer of a righteous person avails much (James 5:16) When we pray in line with the will of God we accomplish much. Elijah was a man of like passions as we are and he prayed and the Lord stopped rain on the earth for 3 years. Then Elijah prayed again and God let it rain! How did Elijah know how to pray these prayers? Israel dishonored the Sabbath for a certain period of time and according to the Word of God rain will be withheld for so many years! Elijah found that out and prayed according to the will of God and God answered Elijah!

Daniel found out that the 70 years of slavery in Babylon was almost over by studying the prophecies of Jeremiah. So he prayed and asked God to end that slavery. It almost cost him his life when he was thrown into the lion’s den, but soon after that the Jews were allowed to return to their land!

Peter was an apostle to the Jews and Paul an apostle to the Gentiles. That is where they had their most success. When Paul tried to work among the Jews it always caused havoc!

When we do not line up with the Word of God we kick against the pricks (Acts 9:5) An Elephant driver pricks the huge animal with a sharp stick to steer it in the right direction. The Holy Spirit leads and guides us – his rod and his staff ‘comforts’ us and leads us in the right direction. If you go against the will of God for your life, He pricks you and goads you to come back on track! It is for your own benefit.

God deals with each one of us individually. Look how Jesus dealt with the woman at the well at Samaria. He showed vital interest in her (John 4). She went and told others: this is the Christ!

John 4:31: My meat is to do the will of my Father that sent me and finish His work!

Matthew 12: My family is those who do the will of God with me.

Doing the will of God brings a new kind of energy and a new kind of relationship.

Most people look for job satisfaction; we look for eternal satisfaction!

Jesus wrestled through Gethsemane to keep doing the will of His Father. You cannot do the will of God unless you deny yourself first. They will, not mine, be done!

Jesus comes into your life not just to be resident, but also to be president!

Romans 12: 1-3 says we must first give our bodies as a living sacrifice before we can renew our minds to understand the perfect will of God for our lives. Then we will have a sane estimation of ourselves according to the measure of faith given to us.

It is possible both to know and to do the will of God on earth as it is done in heaven!
