Do the work of an Evangelist

When we talk about Evangelism we think of the superstar performer with all the power gifts operating and stadiums filled with crowds – and as a result none of us feel qualified to step into that arena.
However, with the advent of apostolic perspective we find out that even timid people like Timothy were given a command to do the work of an evangelist.
Since the five fold ministry perfects and eqiups the saints for the work of the ministry it includes the work of an evangelist. Paul did not tell Timothy to be and evangelist; he told him to do the work of an evangelist! That is where the difference lies. All of us can learn to do the work of an evangelist, but all of us are not called to stand in the office of an evangelist. With this in mind, study the notesDo the work of an evangelist

Apostle Andre Pelser
The Lord woke me up one morning not so long ago and asked me a question: ?Will you play the role of an evangelist for me?? He knew that I am an actor and that actors are always looking for new roles to play. They also need a script and a director. His Word is my Script and His Holy Spirit is my divine director! I want to ask you the same question He asked me: ?Will you play the role of an evangelist for Christ?s sake??
Paul asked the same question to Timothy, his son in the Gospel. He just phrased it differently and issued it in the form of an apostolic command:

Paul?s apostolic command to do the work of an evangelist was given to Timothy ? probably because he was so timid and needed to be urged on to put an effort into winning souls instead of just caring for people. Today, though Paul the apostle is dead, his voice still speaks and commands us to do the work of an evangelist.

II Timothy 4:5

We need to look at the requirements to do the work of an evangelist.

1. Believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of the Living God
2. Obey his commands so that the obedience of others can be judged
3. Do not be ignorant of the truth of the Gospel
4. Do not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
5. Be willing to be a witness of Jesus Christ
6. Be full of faith and the Holy Spirit
7. Trust that God will confirm your words with signs and wonders
8. Be willing to be a fool for Christ (the flesh hates witnessing!)
9. Fear God more than man
10. Trust the Holy Spirit to give you words of knowledge and discernment

Only three things can prevent us from being witnesses and fulfilling the great commission:
1. Ignorance
2. Unbelief
3. Rebellion

We can settle the ignorance problem through teaching. Unbelief is dealt with by hearing the Word of God for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So while you are listening to a preacher you can hear God speaking to you, or reading a book, or receiving a spiritual hunch to do something for the sake of the Gospel. You can only enter into the ?rest? of witnessing with boldness when you believe that you are doing the right thing for the right reasons.

We are called to tell other people about Jesus because souls are going to hell! People who die without Christ are doomed souls forever. The seriousness of the situation need to penetrate our complacency before we will have compassion on the lost. People are like sheep without a shepherd. They follow every deception of the devil to their own destruction. The devil is out to steal, kill and destroy lives and Jesus came to save them. He is not physically present any longer but we are his feet and hands and mouth and ears on earth. We are his representatives, his evangelists, his reformers: we are literally heaven?s ambassadors.

II Corinthians 5:17-21

Be convinced of the truth before you can share it with others. If you are not sure you have a good product you will not sound convincing enough to make others want it. But if we tell the truth the Holy Spirit will convict people of the truth.

People might mock you or deride you or even laugh you to scorn ? but the eternal effects of your effort to witness will be recorded in heaven. One day when they stand before the Great White Throne Judgement Seat they will be reminded of that day when you witnessed to them and they wilfully rejected you. There will be tears ? but it will be too late.

General Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, said that he would like to dangle all his church members over the pit of hell so that they could hear the cries of anguish and torment of the lost souls in hell so that it may inspire the believers to go out and be witnesses for Christ!

Both Nola and I experienced the blackness of outer darkness in a vision during a certain period of time in 2003. It is a terrible, thick darkness: it smothers you! The lost feeling in that darkness is devastating! I believe God showed us what it looks like so that we can appreciate the light of the Gospel.

Remember: people who reject your witness are in that darkness ? they are lost, but do not know it. That is why they are arrogant and scornful. The light of the Gospel hurts their eyes ? their spiritual eyes have not opened yet. They are only living on the natural level and perceive natural things with their physical eyes and ears.

I Corinthians 2

Whatever is spiritually discerned remains a mystery to them. You are weird as far as they are concerned. But actually you are what God intended man to be: a spiritual being that can relate to God who is a spirit! He is looking for those worshippers who can worship him in spirit and truth!

John 4:24

Persecution comes because the glory of God rests on you. The light in your life is so bright that people want to put it out because it convicts them of sin and of judgement and righteousness.

That is the work of the Holy Spirit.

John 16:8,13

As you speak the truth concerning Jesus Christ, how he died for the sins of all mankind in order to reconcile man to God through his great atonement on the cross of Golgotha (the place of the skull), the Holy Spirit will work in the lives of those who are hearing your words and bring conviction. He will convince them that you are speaking the truth! The truth will light up their lives and show them how they should repent and change their wicked ways through judgement of the Holy Spirit. He will also convict them of righteousness: in other words: if they believe what you are saying and respond in faith to the Gospel message, the Holy Spirit will convince them that they are right with God from that moment onwards. Righteousness is a gift from God. You cannot earn right standing with God through good works! You get rewarded for good works but you cannot be saved by good works. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse you from sin and only faith in his finished work on the cross and save your soul.

Romans 5:17

Titus 3:5

Ephesians 2:8, 9

When we hear the truth and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead for our sake, all we have to do is to confess Jesus as Lord of our lives from that moment onwards. No man can call Jesus Lord except by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I Corinthians 12:1

Romans 10:8-10

The harvest fields are already white to harvest ? but the harvesters are few. Pray the Lord of the Harvest will send out harvesters into his fields so that His Church can be full and overflowing!

Matthew

Isaiah was in the temple when he heard a voice saying, ?Who will go for us?? His immediate response was, ?Here am I; send me!? Then the angel of the Lord touched his lips and cleansed him for he dwelt among p
