Correction
Correction is a sensitive issue. Whereas most believers agree that God corrects us, there is not always agreement on the methods and instruments God uses to bring that change. Here are a few suggestions from Scripture. The audio message includes some life examples which could assist someone undergoing correction.

There is a way to receive correction from a mentor. There are also benefits for receiving that correction.
These benefits of correction include the following:
You are regarded as a legitimate child of God if you endure chastening.
Heb 12:5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons, 'My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him;
Heb 12:6 for whom the Lord loves He chastens, and He scourges every son whom He receives.'
Heb 12:7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons, for what son is he whom the father does not chasten?
Heb 12:8 But if you are without chastisement, of which all are partakers, then you are bastards and not sons.
Correction helps us partake in God’s Holiness
Heb 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?
Heb 12:10 For truly they chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure, but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness.
Although it is not pleasant at first, if you receive correction it will produce the peaceable fruit of righteousness.
Heb 12:11 Now chastening for the present does not seem to be joyous, but grievous. Nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who are exercised by it.
If one sees correction as “coaching”, then the effect is that your “game is improved”. Instead of getting offended at the person correcting you, or feeling rejected, you can think of the correction as an important milestone in your development.

Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not.
Isa 53:4 Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on Him; and with His stripes we ourselves are healed.
Habakkuk 1:12
Are You not from everlasting, O Jehovah my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O Jehovah, You have ordained them for judgment; and, my Rock, You have established them for correction.
Zephaniah 3:2
She did not obey the voice; she did not receive correction. She trusted not in Jehovah; she did not draw near to her God.
How does correction come?
From God! Yes but how. It is especially when God uses people that we feel we have a right to justify our error. This is when we should “receive with meekness the implanted word which is able to save our souls.”
By His Spirit
Joh 16:8 And when that One comes, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment.
Joh 16:9 Concerning sin, because they do not believe on Me;
Joh 16:10 concerning righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;
Joh 16:11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
THe Holy Spirit is that still small voice that speaks continuously in our hearts, in our conscience. While we read the Bible and a scripture verse stands out and challenges us, it is through the agency of the Holy Spirit poured out on all flesh. The correction is internal and this shows maturity on hte part of the believer. However, God also uses other means.

A good example of correction is seen in this account in the book of Acts. Aquila and Priscilla were mature Christians who corrected or coached a prominent speaker named Apollos.
Act 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. And Aquila and Priscilla heard him, and they took him and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly.
