Arise and Go
Arise and Go!
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser
Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town 21st Nov. 2021
At Saul’s conversion, we hear the Lord giving him a clear instruction to arise and go:
Act 9:6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.
in Damascus, the Lord gives another clear instruction to an experienced disciple named Ananias:
Act 9:10 Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.”
Act 9:11 So the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying.
Act 9:12 And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.”
Act 9:13 Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.
Act 9:14 And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.”
Act 9:15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.
Act 9:16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”
Act 9:17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
Act 9:18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.
Sometimes we aren’t sure what to do in a phase of our lives. Hear God’s Words to you today: “Arise and go.” Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you about where you need to go and to whom you are to go. Act on the instruction and see how God starts to put things into place in your life.
Instead of Saul spending the rest of his life without vision, feeling sorry for his persecution of the Christians, God gave him a direction to go and an instruction to wait for more instructions.
Instead of Ananias hiding in fear of the Persecutor, he decided to arise and go and face his fears and minister to the most feared official in his circles.
Here are some repercussions when you arise and go to establish God’s kingdom in the earth:
• God isolates you to receive instructions where you arise and go.
• God teaches you to work with the right people in His kingdom.
• God sends you to help re-direct someone.
• God helps you overcome your fears.
• The gifts of the Spirit start to operate when you arise and go.
• You get a new perspective on suffering.
• Holy Spirit baptism takes place.
• Vision is restored.
• Water baptism leaves behind the old and resurrects the new life of Christ within the hope of Glory.
• After Ananias ministered to Saul:
• The church had peace.
• The kingdom of God grew.
• New worlds opened up and we now have Apostle Paul’s writings that form a large part of the New Testament. Imagine if Ananias decided not to arise and go?
As you arise and go let the Holy Spirit bring confirmations with signs and wonders following your obedience to His inner leading.
