Adopt – Believe – Confess
Three words of action that describes our journey together in this move of God.
1. Adopt
We have a spirit of adoption by which we cry Abba Father.
Rom 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, \”Abba, Father.\”
We have been adopted into the household of faith. Galatians 6:10
We are adopted sons of God, grafted into Christ. Rom. 11:17,10,23,24
We are adopted into a Christ culture.
Eph 1:10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.
Eph_2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Eph_2:20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,
Eph_4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
Eph_4:32 And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Eph_5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Eph_5:24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
Eph_5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
Eph_5:32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Php_1:27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,
Php_3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
Col_3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Col_3:4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
We have the same rights and privileges and inheritance as a son in the house according the Roman understanding of adoption.
“The effect of adoption, as already stated, was to create the legal relation of father and son, just as if the adopted son were born of the blood of the adoptive father in lawful marriage.”
The Roman section only (pp15 16) of an article by George Long, M.A., Fellow of Trinity College on pp14 16 of
William Smith, D.C.L., LL.D.: A Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities, John Murray, London, 1875.
We can adopt disciples in Christ – Paul and Timothy. Phil. 2:22
We can adopt churches – the care of the churches have come upon us.
2Co 11:28 besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.
We can adopt nations – I will give you the nations as an inheritance.
Psa 2:8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
The meek shall inherit the earth. Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
2. Believe – what we believe helps us to walk in agreement. Accurate apostolic doctrine is essential for the New Testament Church. Acts 2:42 is a standard that is raised form the start and should be maintained and built upon in the long run.
Acts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles\’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 2:43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
2Ti 3:10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,
2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Teaching the word so that people have faith to see the implementation of the ways of Jesus in His Christ Culture is a key that we use across this galaxy of churches.
The life of Christ is studied and then continued through the book of Acts and the implementation for churches is discovered through the Apostolic and General Epistles of Apostles Paul, Peter and John.
When we read and preach form the Old Testament we are enlightened by the Holy Spirit to see Jesus Christ in every scripture.
3. Confess
Now that we know what to believe, we can confess it! Speaking what we believe allows our thoughts and words to line up – and the next things that can align is our actions.
Hebrews 11:13
“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”
The faith heroes in Hebrews saw their promises afar off – some did not see it in their lifetimes but saw it by faith. They embraced God’s promises as if they already had it. They confessed it and also admitted that they were strangers and pilgrims in this world – seeking a homeland. Jesus is our Promised Land. We have it all in Him!
