Throne of Grace

The Throne of Grace
By Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town June 2015

Scripture:
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Here are some checkpoints on your way to the throne of Grace.

Cease your works
You need to cease from your own works when your approach the throne of Grace. There is a repentance form dead works that helps to activate the force of grace in our lives. Grace is an unmerited favour that Jesus bought on the cross for those who believe.

Enter the Rest of Faith
Remove stubbornness and unbelief and enter the rest of faith for your life.
You do your best and the rest is faith helps you to grasp this concept. Once you have done what the Lord told you as you are led by the Spirit of God, there needs to be a constant assurance, a quiet trust in the still small voice of God based on his Word.
That reliance on the word of God without the initial physical evidence is the rest of faith. It is a promised land of existence sans the irrational fears that cloud our thoughts and cause temporary hesitation or dismay in our actions.
Living from the Rest of Faith is a believer’s inheritance. Step into it and kill some giants of fear, doubt and worry as well as the lies of the accuser that tells you that you are unworthy. OF course we were unworthy – that is why Jesus died to make us worthy before the Lord in His throne of Grace! Now Jesus blood is the worthy making factor that the accuser cannot deny. When God sees us in the throne of grace, he sees us washed in the blood of the lamb. Jesus says to His Father “Dad I have covered this one!” God then accepts us because we access the cleansing power of the Blood of Jesus by faith. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God, yes, but when you are baptised with Christ, you are acceptance in the presence of the king. When Esther approached the King to intercede for the Jews, the king had to point his sceptre of approval towards her or she would have been put to death. Our God is so holy that no one can stand in His presence. We all deserve to die!
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Be Diligent
Show diligence and persistence in entering that rest of faith.
Imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Let the Word Discern You
Allow the Word of God to discern the thoughts and intents of your heart.

Become Accountable
Become accountable. Becoming honest with God is a checkpoint on your way to the throne of grace. It speeds things up when you realize that there is nothing hidden from Him.
Acknowledge Jesus is the Son of God. That makes Him the Great High Priest of your confession. He is the most amazing High Priest because he is appointed according to the power of endless life. Other priests had to offer sacrifices for the sins of the nation and for themselves, but Jesus was without sin, even though he was tempted as we were. That makes Him our Lord and Saviour.

Jesus is the Way into the Throne of Grace
Jesus has passed through the heavens and made a way for us to the throne of Grace.
Jesus is the way the truth and the life – no one comes to the Father – where the throne of Grace is – without Him.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, \”I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Hold Fast your confession
We can hold fast to our confession as we approach the throne of Grace. We overcome by the word of our testimony, by the blood of the Lamb and not loving our lives unto death. There is an accuser that tries to prevent your passage into the throne of grace. He will remind you of all the things you have done wrong, but he has been cast down. Remember that because of all Jesus has done as Your High Priest, He is now making intercession for you as you enter the throne of Grace. That should keep your mind stayed on Him – trust the blood of Jesus to present you blameless before God in the throne of Grace and find that mercy that you need for yourself and for others. The grace that comes with the mercy is the power you need to live it out.

Hope in Christ Jesus helps you Enter
Remember the High Priest Jesus had to enter before you – God’s promise and His oath manifested in Jesus Christ your Great High Priest – is your hope of glory – that hope acts as an anchor of the soul – it keeps your mind stayed on Him and settles your emotions and fears as you now boldly approach the throne of grace.

Enter with Holy Spirit Boldness
The Holy Spirit has been poured out on all flesh, when you are baptised with the Holy Spirit you not only get boldness to witness about Jesus to others, you also testify in the throne of grace that Jesus Christ is your Lord and your officiating High Priest. That boldness that you need to enter comes from a relationship with the Holy Spirit – those who are led by the Spirit are sons of God. That same Spirit now leads you into a higher realm of existence. The throne of Grace where you find mercy that triumphs over judgment and grace to help you in every needs of your life. This works for you and those for whom you are praying.

Live from the throne of Grace
The wonderful things about the Spiritual realm is that once Jesus has opened the way for you into that place – you can live from that existence forever. It is not a going out and coming in, but a constant place of existence by faith. I believe that because we are seated with Him in heavenly places, we have always been in His throne of Grace but the awareness of your spiritual identity in Christ needs to grow so that you can access everything the throne of Grace offers.

I remember all the baby’s we have prayed over and blessed in the Jesus, held them in our arms and prophesied over them with their parents. When we are born again, God the Father holds us in His arms and blesses us – where did Jesus see that? In the throne of grace with Abba Father!

Let Mercy triumph over Judgment
The mercy we find is awesome. The handwriting of requirements against us has been removed:
Col 2:14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
It also says further that we should let no one judge us.

Jas 2:12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.
Jas 2:13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
God’s mercy triumphs over our judgment of ourselves and others. His love covers a multitude of sins and gives people the option of a new life. The decision is with us – w can choose to operate form the throne of grace forever – or we can retreat back into an existence of cause and effect, dead works, doubt, worry and fear that results from works of the flesh and doing it our way!

I said to church leader once: “I have been to the throne of grace and it’s awesome!”
