Fearless in Every Sphere

Fearless in Every Sphere
By Apostle Aje Pelser; Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town, 15 March 2015.

Reasons why people fear:
Fear of the unknown.
• Unfamiliar; Uncertain; Uncharted territory; Unwanted or unloved; Unaccepted; Unkind
• Untried or untested; Unaware
• Unlimited – when you are scared of the new spiritscape God has opened up for you.

All fear is linked to the fear of death
Heb 2:14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
Heb 2:15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Through Jesus Christ we overcome the fear of death and therefore can become fearless in every sphere of existence, on earth and in the spiritual real, David gives us some wonderful instances of being fearless in every sphere of life. He did not always get it perfectly right, but maintained a relationship with the Spirit of God that sustained his fearlessness and made his life a standard of a man after God’s own heart who would do all his will. He eventually set up a tabernacle of praise and worship that broke through into the new covenant sphere while in an old covenant context.

Instances where David was fearless in every sphere:
Age
1Sa 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, \”Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.\”
1Sa 16:11 And Samuel said to Jesse, \”Are all the young men here?\” Then he said, \”There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.\” And Samuel said to Jesse, \”Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.\”
1Sa 16:12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, \”Arise, anoint him; for this is the one
Paul also encouraged his young prtege apostle Timothy to be fearless:
2Ti 1:6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
2Ti 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Anointing
1Sa_16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Confrontation
Brothers:
Goliath:
1Sa 17:26 Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, \”What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?\”
1Sa 17:27 And the people answered him in this manner, saying, \”So shall it be done for the man who kills him.\”
1Sa 17:28 Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab\’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, \”Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.\”
1Sa 17:29 And David said, \”What have I done now? Is there not a cause?\”
1Sa 17:30 Then he turned from him toward another and said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did.
1Sa 17:31 Now when the words which David spoke were heard, they reported them to Saul; and he sent for him.

1Sa 17:33 And Saul said to David, \”You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.\”

Shepherding
Sa 17:34 But David said to Saul, \”Your servant used to keep his father\’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock,
1Sa 17:35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it.
1Sa 17:36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.\”
1Sa 17:37 Moreover David said, \”The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.\” And Saul said to David, \”Go, and the LORD be with you!\”

Battle
1Sa 17:43 So the Philistine said to David, \”Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?\” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
1Sa 17:44 And the Philistine said to David, \”Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!\”
1Sa 17:45 Then David said to the Philistine, \”You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
1Sa 17:46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
1Sa 17:47 Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD\’s, and He will give you into our hands.\”
1Sa 17:48 So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
1Sa 17:49 Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.
1Sa 17:50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.
1Sa 17:51 Therefore David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.
1Sa 17:52 Now the men of Israel and Judah arose and shouted, and pursued the Philistines as far as the entrance of the valley and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell along the road to Shaaraim, even as far as Gath and Ekron.
1Sa 17:53 Then the children of Israel returned from chasing the Philistines, and they plundered their tents.

Reasons why we are fearless in every sphere:
Divine Presence
Joh 14:15 \”If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
Joh 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
Joh 16:8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
oh 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
Joh 16:14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

Anointing
Isa 10:27 It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.
1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
1Jn 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

Anoiting is within
Col 1:27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Christ G5547 Christos khris-tos\’
From G5548; anointed, that is, the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus: – Christ.

Awareness of Identity
2Co 5:16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.
2Co 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Experience
1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—
1Jn 1:2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us—
1Jn 1:3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

Knowledge
2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
2Pe 1:3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
2Pe 1:4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Understanding
Isa 11:1 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
Isa 11:2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.

Wisdom
Jas 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
Jas 1:7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
Jas 1:8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Faith
Luk 8:24 And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, \”Master, Master, we are perishing!\” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm.
Luk 8:25 But He said to them, \”Where is your faith?\” And they were afraid, and marvelled, saying to one another, \”Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!\”

Hope
Psa 16:8 I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Psa 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.
Psa 16:10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
Psa 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Love
1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
