The pre-eminance of Christ ? Anton de Gruchy

During this sermon we answer two questions:
Why should Jesus be pre-eminant in our lives?
How do I make Him pre-eminant? Why should Jesus be pre-eminant in our lives?
? Look for Jesus in every scripture
? It?s no use living from crisis to crisis. The book of Judges is a good example of this. Seek God as a precautionary measure, not as a remedy. Life comes out of seeking God, not vice versa.
? Problem solving and design: My philosophy on problem-solving is this: I don?t solve it. I take it to God. And then I wait. The Holy Spirit works through me to solve the problems. It starts with the Word. Seeking God works; it brings freedom. I make Him important.

The big how. How do I make Him pre-eminant?
? How does Aje know who the kids are who are serious about cricket? They come to practise! While coming to church on a Sunday is still an option, then you are not serious about making God pre-eminant. If something is keeping you from coming to church on a Sunday, then that thing is pre-eminant in your life. We come to church to hear from God corporately. God speaks in church through prophecy and worship.
? How many people only eat when they?re hungry? Same with God. If you plan time in your day for your physical meals, then why not make time for spiritual meals? Put it in your diary, else it?s not going to happen! It mustn?t be an option. Jos 1:8 –> Day and night. Read in the morning, then meditate through the day. Look for a commission from God. Let Him tell you where to read, where to focus.
? Take notes of what He tells you. Taking notes = taking notice.
