What about “Ashkelon”?
ISBE states that Ashkelon is a “maritime town between Jaffa and Gaza, one of the five chief cities of the Philistines.” Throughout the Early Christian history and later during the crusades, the seaport was contested as it was an important fortress because of its vicinity to the trade route between Syria and Egypt.
Spiritual connotation:
Considering the history between Israel and the Philistines, this city represents any evil regional power in opposition to God’s people. I Samuel 5,6. One of the gold tumours came from Ashkelon in the Old Testament account concerning the Ark of the Covenant. They sent a trespass offering for stealing the Ark of the Covenant. God had smitten the Philistine people with tumours, and the god Dagon had fallen on his face, head and hands cut off in the presence of the Ark of the Lord.

The Word of God that brings deliverance is a “spoken word.” Jesus often rebuked demons and they left. Peter walked on water “at His Word.” The very fact that the John writes: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” gives us an indication of the creative power that has been sustained throughout creation to the furthest ends of the cosmos. We should be bold to speak the Word of God in every situation and use the Sword of the Spirit in our mouth. In the book of Revelation, chapter one, Jesus has a two-edged Sword in His mouth. When we speak the Word it cut both the hearer and the speaker – it reminds the speaker about the truth and it challenges the hearer to conform to God’s standards by the power of the Holy Spirit.
God’s Word has been appointed to your life, to your family, your business, your community. God has given His word a charge and a commission to fulfil in your life, it is fixed on you and will have no rest until that charge is completed. His Sword is programmed for you individually and the Sword Maker’s instructions will be executed to the full!
Allow the Sword of the Lord full access to your sphere of influence and see how it cuts through what is soul and spirit or flesh. See how it removes oppression from your life, and cuts off the chains of the guilt of past sins that Jesus’ blood paid for on the cross. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but are mighty for the pulling down of strongholds in Jesus’ name. Your healing and deliverance has been commissioned, and the Sword of the Lord will execute judgement on enemy territory!
