Joy in Believing
The kind of Joy Jesus gives is different to what the world can give therefore the world cannot take away a believer's joy! The world did not give it and the world cannot take it away!
Christians miss it by not understanding the joy that faith brings and unfulfilled expectations cause sorrow and disappointment. When we have knowledge of the kind of Joy Jesus gives we will walk by faith and not by sight and our joy will be complete!
Here's a study of Romans 15:13 to highlight certain aspects of the joy in believing that every Christian can have. It is for free!Joy in Believing!

Active faith unleashes a fountain of joy within you! Faith is the substance of the things you hope for the evidence of things not yet seen (Heb. 11:1).
Romans 15:13
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The God of Hope gives that joy.
The God of hope fills you: ?pleroo? (Greek) means to fill and make complete; to carry out successfully and to bring to completion. The noun ?pleroma? gives the picture of an ancient galleon, a great old sailing ship complete with sailors, soldiers, supply of food and ammunition, rigged up and prepared for a journey across the ocean. When God fills you He makes sure that he pays attention to every detail required for the journey to reach the destination.
If God gave us His only begotten Son why will he not give us everything else we need for this life?
Romans 8:32
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
God even plans the storms you will face: because he has rigged you up spiritually to go through the storms and to come out victoriously. If God allows tribulation or persecution in your life you may rejoice because He has chosen it to shape you and strengthen you and to prove to you that you are not alone. You and God make the majority. There is nothing you cannot survive. There is nothing that can defeat you! No plan or strategy of the enemy can cause you to go under for God is with you! Believing this should give you joy to face whatever life may bring your way ? trusting that God knows what is best for you!
The captain of your ship made the ocean and commands the winds! He places His great hands on your hands as you navigate the ship through the straits and the passages in the ocean of life. He is your commander! The Holy Spirit is your navigator and the angels are your support. The captain?s whistle indicates to the angels what they should be doing. The bell rings and they obey every command. You are loaded with a support system that is unbeatable! This should not only give you joy but also peace of mind!
Peace and Joy go hand in hand
You have a confident expectation (Greek: ?elpis?) of great joy because the God of Hope fills you with peace and joy in believing! Joy in Greek is ?chara? and it means just what it says, gladness! Joy is the result of well-being and thriving in the midst of any condition you might face because you have God?s peace reigning in your heart.
Peace is ?eirene? (Greek) and it means you have full assurance of God?s support which makes you content with your earthly lot whatever sort it is. It describes the blessed state of the upright and godly men and women throughout history as well as the eternal state in the life hereafter in the Kingdom of God. ?Eirene? includes prosperity of soul and of material things and explains the tranquil state of a soul that has no fear of any kind. This is the kind of peace Jesus gives!
Peace also refers to harmony and concord between individuals as well as national peace. If all the individuals in our nation will accept God?s plan for them there will be national peace as well! Believing this should give you joy because you are learning to understand God?s ways.
Understand God?s Ways
We struggle and strain against the leading of God in our lives and we frustrate the grace of God and cause our own unhappiness. We make each other unhappy because we are not willing to accept the way God has made for us. He carved out our way and adjusted everything to help us along the way. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts not our thoughts. We have to grow into accepting His ways. We require meekness and humility to submit to God?s ways. His word and His spirit will reveal His ways to us.
Isaiah 55:8-12
8 ?For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,? says the Lord.
9 ?For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 ?For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
12 ?For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
The Old Testament was a shadow of the things to come in the New Testament. The image of the rain watering the earth and becoming fruitful is echoed in the way Paul describes the working of the Holy Spirit helping us to know what God has prepared for us ? things the natural five senses cannot readily comprehend, but the spiritual man inside can discern.
1 Corinthians 2:8-10
8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.9 But as it is written:
1 ?Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.?
10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
Because God is invisible it takes faith to believe that God exists and rewards those who diligently seek Him (Heb 11:6).
What it means to really believe
Believing is ?pisteuo? in Greek and describes the act of being so persuaded by someone that you are willing to trust His words unconditionally and rest in the assurance that He will keep His word. Faith is an inner prerogative that impels you to place confident trust in someone or something. True faith inspires and gives fervour to act on what you really believe. Your trust in someone is based on the character of the one who promises.
The God of hope fills you with joy in believing by exerting His power on your behalf! Power is ?dunamis? in Greek and speaks of ability that can perform miracles, generate increase in wealth and numbers and establish moral excellence in the soul!
God puts you in a state of mind and makes resources available to you by His power to have joy in believing! By divine permission circumstances become favourable to you so that you can do His will! He makes you capable and strong by His ability taking up residence in your spirit! He creates a new custom inside of you: the custom of being able to do what He wants you to do at the drop of a hat! What looked impossible at first becomes possible by His divine power working in you ? if you believe! God can do far more than we can imagine or conceive!
