God reveals His Name in the Fire

Summary of revelations of God in the fire:

God reveals different facets of His nature through His names, especially when His people face a great need or experience His blessing.
We do not only want to learn about God; through a personal relationship, prayer and meditation, we come to know Him more intimately.
God revealed Himself to Moses in the fire as “I AM WHO I AM,” the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Peter received revelation from the Father that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and this revealed truth became foundational to the Church.
Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and with fire: a fire that cleanses, separates the wheat from the chaff and transforms our lives.
Jesus has been exalted and given the name above every name; every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
The Son is the brightness of God’s glory, the exact image of His person, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, seated at the right hand of Majesty.
God makes His ministers flames of fire—servants devoted to holy things and to the service of the King.
The Father of lights gives every good and perfect gift, and His servants can shine with His light and move in tune with Him.
Our God is a consuming fire; His fire cleanses away the old nature and causes His light to shine through us.
The fire of God can strike like lightning or warm like a campfire, but Jesus walks with us in the fire, and we will not be burnt.

Revelations of God to people throughout the Bible.

Every time, there is another facet of His nature revealed:

“We can see God’s names revealed to us throughout the pages of scripture. Often the Bible reveals a new name of God when the people either face a great need, or when see God come through and bless them in a spectacular way.

As time passed, the people of God received more and more revelation about the nature of God. This process continues today as His people discover more of His character. Each of us individually has the ability to learn ever more about God and his nature as we walk through life.

This is why it is so important to have a personal relationship with God the Father directly. Without that direct personal connection we only learn about God without ever growing to actually know Him.

When Moses met I Am

Exo 3:2 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.

Exo 3:3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”

Exo 3:4 So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

Exo 3:14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

God helped Moses access I Am – by stating I AM also the God of your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

When Simon Peter received a revelation from the Father about Jesus:

Mat 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Mat 16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Mat 16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Mat 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

Mat 16:19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Mat 16:20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

“Peter is petros, and rock petra. The latter is a “mass of true rock, as distinct from petros, a detached stone or boulder” (Abb-Sm). The word in the Aramaic is kepha; Cephas is the Aramaic surname of Simon. This word is first transliterated from the Aramaic. The Greek is Peter (petros). In Jn. 1.42 we have both words, the Aramaic word being used by Jesus, first in a transliteration of the Aramaic, and then a translation into the Greek equivalent, petros, Peter. We cannot take the one word (Peter) as being simply the equivalent of the other (rock), but neither can we suppose no connection between the words. In the first case we limit and narrow the sense of petra by taking it to be no more than petros, and in the second we reject a quite evident connection. The play on words is not merely incidental, but carries a meaning. The fact of the change suggests that not simply the man Simon, son of Jonas, is meant but rather something about him is in view. The word “this” in “this rock” is emphatic and therefore points to Peter rather than Jesus Himself. It would seem then from the change from the masculine gender petros to the feminine petra, that it is the quality of the “rock” that is being emphasized – this rock. That, of course, leads us to the thought that it was Peter as giving expression to the divine truth of God regarding His Son, revealed to him by the Father – this Peter is the rock. Further, we can not limit the foundation to Peter for what is said of him alone in v. 19 is said again to all the disciples in 18.18. It would seem that we must take Peter as representative of the Twelve.”

John the Baptist foresee Jesus baptizing with the Holy Spirit and with fire:

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Mat 3:12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Jesus is given the name above all names:

Php 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

Php 2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

Php 2:11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Supremacy of God’s Son

Heb 1:1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

Heb 1:2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

Heb 1:3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Heb 1:4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Heb 1:5 For to which of the angels did He ever say: “YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU”? And again: “I WILL BE TO HIM A FATHER, AND HE SHALL BE TO ME A SON”?

Heb 1:6 But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM.”

Heb 1:7 And of the angels He says: “WHO MAKES HIS ANGELS SPIRITS AND HIS MINISTERS A FLAME OF FIRE.”

Heb 1:8 But to the Son He says: “YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER; A SCEPTER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE SCEPTER OF YOUR KINGDOM.

Heb 1:9 YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS; THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS MORE THAN YOUR COMPANIONS.”

A primary word; “fire” (literally or figuratively, specifically lightning): – fiery, fire.

I have looked into the spiritual realm and seen prophets of God shimmer and move like lightning. Their spirits are I tune with the Father of lights.

Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Jas 1:18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.

If we are made in His image, we have His fire!

Exo_24:17 The sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.

Deu_4:24 For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Deu_9:3 Therefore understand today that the LORD your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the LORD has said to you.

Heb_12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

There is fire in your spiritual DNA – as the Holy Spirit baptizes you – that sparks the inherent cleansing fire which consumes our old nature and beings to shine through us as a light to our world. The fire can strike like lightning and warm like a campfire. It has different attributes, but like we will learn with Daneil and His friends – Jesus walks with you in the fire and you won’t be burnt!
