Return to the Lord
Return to the Lord
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church Cape Town, 7th June 2026
Many Christians think they did Bible school and said they were sorry years ago and now everything is fine. Life happens and winds of doctrine and worldly events and thoughts come and go constantly. Those who are led by the Spirit are called sons of God. That is a daily acknowledgment of God and a constant alignment with His word before you as a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.
Hos 5:15 I will return again to My place Till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”
Hos 6:1 Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.
Hos 6:2 After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight.
Hos 6:3 Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth.
Hos 6:6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
Hos 6:11 Also, O Judah, a harvest is appointed for you, When I return the captives of My people.
Hidden in this prophecy are promises of redemption when hearts return to the Lord.
1. Acknowledging offense turns a heart back to God.
2. Heeding the call to return brings healing.
3. Returning to God brings revival and resurrection life. Jesus rose on the third day. We are buried with Him through the baptism of repentance and raised in newness of life. Romans 6:4.
4. Pursuing the knowledge of God establishes us in a new day.
5. Repentance releases the early and latter rain. Rain is the nurturing of the Seed of the Word – remember the parable of the Sower? People hear the word but do not repent, the rain is withheld for the seed to grow and bear fruit.
6. Mercy replaces sacrifice without knowledge. Dead works are replaced with understanding Our Father’s Ways.
7. Our Harvest is unlocking the returning of captives to God.
Application:
• What holds you captive in your thoughts?
• What areas are dry in your life and need rain?
• Which dreams need to be resurrected by Hs Power?
• Take a moment and allow the Holy Spirit to identify where we can return to God and acknowledge spiritual offenses towards God and man in your prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you return entirely to God spirit soul and body. This should be a daily course adjustment, not just a once off sinners’ prayer. Think of it as a plane flying through turbulent winds that needs to check its bearing and make micro adjustments to reach its destination.
