In Glory
In Glory
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town
Part of the Colossians Series.
Col 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Col 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Here are appearances of Christ that release us in glory with HIM!
Raised with Christ.
This happens at baptism. Rom. 6:4 Baptism is a clear death to the old nature of sin and a release of the new life. If we are in Christ, we are a new creation, old things have passed away, behold, all things become new. Jesus makes all things new.
To operate in glory you have ot be raised to another level of existence in Christ.
Jesus prayed for His discples:
Joh 17:24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
Where is Jesus seated? And where are we seated?
Heb 8:1 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
Heb 8:2 a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.
Eph 1:20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
Eph 1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
And Stephen: Act 7:56 and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
Eph 2:6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
How do we seek the things that are above?
It’s how we meditate
Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Php 4:9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
It’s in renewing our minds
Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Joh 3:12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
Joh 3:13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
It’s in seeking heavenly wisdom on a matter:
Jas 3:15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
Jas 3:16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
Jas 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Jas 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
If we have died where is our life hidden? In Christ with God, sealed by the Holy Spirit.
How does Christ Appear?
He is the Word of God and the Light of the world
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
God’s kindness and mercy is a sign that Jesus is near.
Tit 3:4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
Tit 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Tit 3:6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
His presence
Heb 9:24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;
Keeping His commands
Joh 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
Rom 16:25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began
Through preaching the Gospel
Rom 16:26 but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith—
Col 4:3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,
Col 4:4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
Glorifying God
Joh_17:1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,
Joh_17:5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
Moments of Glory include Divine manifestations and miracles:
Luk_2:20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
Luk_5:25 Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
Luk_18:43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
Giving glorifies God:
2Co 9:12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God,
2Co 9:13 while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men,
The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus:
Joh 16:14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
