Origin of Faith

Historically, the Pentateuch gives a chronological history of the birth of the nation of Israel to their entrance into Canaan. What promised land beckons you? We are commanded to love, commissioned to go! Context is a vital element of faith. Let’s begin…

Here are some of the origins of our faith from the first chapters of our Bible, that will plot your journey into your promised land:

1. God begins all creation. In the beginning God created. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God.
Heb 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
God’s word in your life helps to frame the world you are hoping for, faith in that word is the substance He uses to build it.
We heard last week that it is important how we speak over that world God is giving us to reign in this life. Speak blessing and cursing, speak faith and not doubt, speak solution versus murmuring and complaining.
Drive past our church building and call it done! Better still call it well done! Prophecy over the ground and into the air over the church, pray and intercede for the families we will reach, and decree Jesus is Lord over the suburb. Do the same for your regions where you have household church, in the route you drive, where your children go to school, where you work, live and move and have your being.
We need to pray without ceasing at this time, South Africa is going to see a surge of growth out of this dark chaotic void. There is a strength of a phoenix in our people to rise from the ashes and soar. There are hidden resources that God is going to open up that we have never thought of in the ground – our country is poised for a resurgence to set up the kingdom of God throughout the continent. We need to pray for our leaders and prophecy a purging of corruption. We need to educate our children to become captains of industry and innovation because the potential of growth in our country right now is immense if you can see with the eyes of faith. Already, developed countries are queuing up for our potential business. Let’s beware of mergers that will compromise our country’s values and dilute our faith. We have the solution within, but we need to access the creativity of our God.
God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were present in the genesis of al creation. God initiates, the Word announces and declares, and the Holy Spirit executes that word and makes it happen. Breath is present when we speak – allow God’s breath into your speech and do not allow the foul breath of murmuring and complaining, doubt and cursing into your creative machinery. We are God-inbreathed: enthusiastic!

2. The Holy Spirit incubates the formless void.
Don’t be afraid of your chaos. God created the world out of a chaotic mess and turned it into his glorious creation. In fact, chaos is a sign that something is about to be formed in and through you. It’s like gravity is waiting to trigger it all into a new solar system, with life supporting orbits and planets, seasons and days.
The Holy Spirit is an amazing incubator. We are sourcing an incubator for our friends in Malawi, they have a few hundred chickens but many of the eggs are not hatching. We need like a few thousand Rand for the machine that will automatically incubate the chicks and thereby double the stock by the end of the year, prospering our ministers and their people in a difficult region.
Incubation requires, heat, patience and skill. The Holy Spirit is at work in you incubating all those words, visions, prophecies, deep desires and asportations that God has placed in your soul.
As you warm yourself with the flame of passion for Jesus ad worship, the Holy Spirit is incubating you. As you allow Him to turn your heart towards the living God’s purpose for your life, you start to grow until al those beautiful promises start to hatch!
When that happens people often try to emulate you and miss the process of incubation available to them too. We have the same Father, the same Jesus and His creative Word, the same Helper, the Holy Spirit that can work in everyone. It remains for us to submit to His process – imitate those who through faith and patience, inherit the promises of God. Heb. 6:12

3. God said and it was: Let there be light.
When God speaks, it releases his will, and the divine force of creation is set in motion. Noting can stop something God intends to happen. The force of creation is in you, when that word of God is released, it does not return void, but accomplishes it’s mission:

Isa 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Light is a wonderful concept – it is both waves and particles, energy and illumination. It travels fast and carries information. The entrance of His word brings light:
Psa 119:130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

Response
Our response to show we are not forgetful hearers, but doers of the Word:
• Take a word God has given you for your life:
• Speak it over your situation by faith in Jesus’ name.
• Now ask God’s Holy Spirit to incubate over that word and see what He wants you to do about it next. Start to act it out and glorify God as it begins to manifest in this world – pray that His will be done on earth as it stands established in heaven already! Thank You Jesus!
