Descendant
Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town
Galatians 3, various translations: New King James Version; Wuest’s Greek New Testament
On occasion of Thanksgiving Sunday, 27th Nov. 2022
“Now to Abraham were made the promises, and to his Descendant. … in respect to one Descendant, and to your Descendant, who is Christ.”
Please read the entire Galatians chapter 3 for the full understanding and context of this sermon.
Here are some clear benefits of the Descendant, Jesus Christ, mentioned in the book of Galatians by apostle Paul.
1. We receive the Spirit of God by the hearing of faith versus the works of the law. Gal. 3:14
2. He works miracles amongst us by the hearing of faith. Gal. 3,4,5
3. If we believe in the Descendant, Jesus, it is accounted to us for righteousness, and we are called sons of Abraham by association. Gal. 3:6
4. Through the Descendant, all the nations of the earth is blessed, including us who believe like Abraham.
5. We are freed from the curse of the law, through the actions of the Descendant, Jesus Christ, who paid the penalty for the curse by death on the cross. Gal. 3:13
6. The promise made by God to Abraham was never annulled by the law made 430 years afterwards.
7. We access the inheritance of the Descendant by faith in the promise, not the works of the law. In Him all the promises in the Bible for us are: “Yes, and Amen – confirmed!” 2 Corinthians 1:20.
8. The promise on the ground of faith in Jesus Christ is given to those who believe. Galatians 3:22. The law became a tutor to teach us that we need a mediator between God and man, and shows us how to access righteousness by faith.
